Hello, Ive been using perchance so non stop since its inception, The note that is now gone said that it would be training. How long till it does faces again like before? - Dont get me wrong how well it handles prompts now as far as getting ecactly the things you specified is awesome, but the models for faces, its all the same lips and hair EVERY time, and faces i used to get flawless are now nowhere close. It will do marilyn Monroe perfectly, but wont do anyone rlse less famous very good at all which it used to do. TIRED of the teased hair and botox/lip fillers. If it did faces like it used to with these new improvements it would be perfect

There are a lot of people in this community, as well as lemmy as a whole, who are very anti genAI. From the environmental impact, to the ip infringement, to the honestly just shit output, it has not got a good reputation here.

You're best of using a photo or art done by real people - either your own, commissioned from an artist, or publicly available stuff. If you're adamant on using genAI, you'll get better answers from a community specific to ai.

The environmental impact is mostly bullshit tho. People using it as a reason just makes their whole opinion seem dumb.

How do you reckon that? The companies themselves are trying to reopen coal plants and xAI is burning natural gas to get the energy for training. Those things have a proven impact on the climate.

Its all to do with how to grid works. Compute loads are large stable loads with ability to perform instant load ramping. The base load of the power grid is increasing (as it has done basically forever) base load is provided by slow to ramp stable large energy sources operating at heigh efficiency (nuclear, coal, geothermal etc) then u have a varying load which is the instant to instant power usage. Renewables provide unstable sources. If the renewables turn off (clouds, the wind stops etc etc) then u need to either generate more power to compensate or shed load. A compute resource can instantly shed load and sell that power they have provisioned back to the grid at a profit. Its using more power yes but it's stabilising the grid which is the big issue with renewables.

Xai is simply using industrial generators that would usually be busy making power for something else they are not increasing the net carbon output they are simply reallocating it. It does have proven impact but on the scale of global carbon emissions its fuck all.

Ai uses energy --> Using AI to make stupid shit uses energy for stupid things.

You can use mental gymnastics as much as you want about base load of electric grid or stabilising the load or what ever, but it does not change the fact that when you use AI it uses energy that would not be used othewise.

Saying that it does not matter if the generator powers your AI waifu or something else is just moronic. I can also say that leaving my tv on or not shutting my lights when leaving the house effects jack all in the global sense, but that is not reason to not shut those down when i leave my apartment.

Wow, I could immediately see that the image is AI-generated... and it is also fucking ugly.

Which immediately explains why almost all AI faces look similar. It's so clearly recognized as AI.

That and they've started learning from their own garbage output which is leading to more garbage output.

The fact that your account is brand new makes me think you either have no idea where you are, or you are trolling.
