Translation: how can we con men into supporting our platform, as opposed to changing our platform to be more appealing to men and younger voters in general?

[-] Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz 41 points 2 months ago

Dems: Best we can do is racism and abandoning trans people.

[-] jenesaisquoi@feddit.org 22 points 2 months ago

Poor US-americans. They get to choose between shit and shit lite.

[-] Genius@lemmy.zip 19 points 2 months ago

The wealthy oligarchs con people into voting for shit by paying the opposition to be shit lite. Nobody wants to vote for shit lite, so if the oligarchs make sure the opposition is shit lite, then shit wins

[-] jenesaisquoi@feddit.org 6 points 2 months ago

That's exactly right.

[-] possumparty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 2 months ago

Wealthy consultants: I know you’ve tried running as republicans-lite. We suggest that you move further to the right.

DNC: brilliant

[-] nova_ad_vitum@lemmy.ca 27 points 2 months ago

Don't forget, absolute, unthinking support of Israel under all circumstances. Even thinking about why you support Israel antisemitic, and this issue is more important than any domestic issue. Literally losing to Republicans is preferable to budging 1mm on this .

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago

checking under the hood of the DNC

Curious, all I'm seeing is more consultants.

[-] possumparty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 2 months ago

even worse, they're all conservative consultants.

Bernie: I have +45 on young male voters, and +12 over Trump if elected as the DNC nominee.

DNC: Were going to learn nothing from this, ever.

[-] farngis_mcgiles@sh.itjust.works 25 points 2 months ago

they'd rather see the corporate candidate lose than the popular candidae win

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 6 points 2 months ago

thats why they have a habit of choosing Republicans.

I'm sure Chuck Schumer will get to the bottom of this after he finishes his book tour on antisemitism in America while being completely tone-deaf on the absolute disdain many of us have for our tax dollars supporting a genocide in the 21st century.

Cuck Coomer might as well be an Israeli citizen at this point

Dems don't want to win every election because that would break the scam.

Send in the republicans to loot our money and then send in the dems to fix everything up enough to where they can loot again.

[-] Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz 17 points 2 months ago

Fix? Best we can do is Most Lethal Military Ever and expanding the programs we all agreed were bad under Trump.

[-] jaennaet@sopuli.xyz 15 points 2 months ago

I keep saying this but it feels like the Dems are a Russia-style controlled opposition party.

Doesn't mean 100% of them are garbage, but the leadership sure does seem like it hates the idea of successful opposition

[-] ToadOfHypnosis@lemmy.world 25 points 2 months ago

How can we make these voters okay with corporate servitude and still vote for us so we can keep getting all this fat lobbyist money?

[-] notsure@fedia.io 22 points 2 months ago

...how shall we snatch defeat from the jaws of victory...

[-] pineapplelover@lemmy.dbzer0.com 21 points 2 months ago

The left wants leftists not conservatives cosplaying as liberals

At this point, the Dem party consider themselves retired.; enjoying their investor's cash, and playing fiddle while DC burns.

[-] vivalapivo@lemmy.today 21 points 2 months ago

Supplement Mamdani with a Trump-like folk and see it for yourself: Dems do not support socialism, nothing new here

[-] danc4498@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

We need a good middle ground candidate. One that can get support from people like Dick Cheney and George W Bush. That’ll get us the young voters.

No guys wait, why not pay our campain's $100millions to cool billionares like Beyonce or Taylor Swift to relate to these young voters?

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

You know, if you're holding a big GOTV drive in Houston and you want to bring their home town girl in to sing a few bars as part of a state convention or mobilizing event, I wouldn't begrudge them that.

But Beyonce showed up at a big Harris event and didn't perform any music. Literally paid to wave at the crowd and not do the thing for which you're famous.

It's kinda funny. They'll also want their own Rogan, but the guys who fit that bill that are leftist call them out to. The dems just wanted a spokesperson with a cock and they are not getting it.

Democrats: ......... But why male voters?

Mamdani: you serious? I just told you that a moment ago!

[-] aesthelete@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

They're like the asshat CEOs that keep pumping useless software consultants full of money.

How about another fundraising gala? They can use the proceeds to fund another UBI pilot study, just in case it stopped working this year.

[-] Quadhammer@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

It's time to reform the government.

Edit: and people need to seriously consider what that looks like. Especially once the smoke clears

[-] chaogomu@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

Changing the voting system is the first step.

A lot of smart people have looked at this problem. With years of study, lots of math, and some real world testing, the best option for a replacement is STAR.

What Trump spent a lot of time talking about during the campaign was the economy and cost of living, which got worse under Biden.

Even a lot of his anti immigration stuff was frames as "they're taking our jobs". And that's what Mamadani is doing right.

[-] Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 months ago

...due to Trump's terrible pandemic handling, and Republicans blocking the anti price gouging bills

[-] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

Doesn't change the fact that when people do worse economicly for any reason they want to vote out the incumbent.

What does +n favourability mean?

[-] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 18 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

There's 100 people in the room

10 think you're annoying, 80 love you, 10 dont care

A "net" when talking numbers is the difference, so you would have a net favorability of 70%. Because it's the people who like you minus the people who dislike you, and no one cares about the people who don't care.

Quick edit:

I didn't check if that 73% is real or just to make a point, but if it is, 73% net favorability is obviously insanely popular. Cracking 50% overall is pretty much considered a shoe in

[-] Zink@programming.dev 7 points 2 months ago

spend $20M on wealthy consultants

You mean spend $20M on ourselves?

I mean, are the people paying political consultants now not also going to be the ones getting paid in the future?
