Shameless fuckers took away the shade from protesters and claimed it's what they always do.

So basically the trees weren’t their fucking property and jurisdiction to trim

From their point of view the union and strike are evil because it keeps people from working and hurts the economy. They think people want to work and SAG is making actors strike. I’m no longer surprised when people justify atrocities, it’s who we are.

I mean, people generally do want to work, actors included. They just don't want to be mercilessly exploited while they're at it.

I hate the phrase "people want to work"

Only in the twisted context we act like is default is it true.

People want to have good food, socialize, play, and be comfortable. We work to make those things happen. Some people are lucky enough to make money doing something they already enjoy somewhat, but that isn't common or something that can be expected. 90% of people, at least, if given the option to do whatever they like and still have their needs met, would not choose to "work" in the way that we do now.

Simple question will stop the nonsense.

Did they trim the tree at the same time last year? I didn’t see that question asked or answered in the article.

FTR: This is a completely normal trim for those trees. I do question the timing as I was under the impression that trees were trimmed in either spring or fall. But I am not an arborist and the “high wind” excuse sounds at least probable.

Naw, they said it in their explanation: "this is what we always do." In this case, "this" means "using underhanded means to quash organized labor movements."

See, it all makes sense!

In seriousness, I do appreciate you providing some context. I don't know about the high winds excuse, but many trees in Southern California are trimmed whenever you want, since "spring" and "fall" don't really exist.

They aren't their trees to trim, they're the city's. Businesses can apply for permits to do it, but they didn't.

Nah the Arborist subreddit basically was unanimous in thinking the trees were essentially going to die from the severe topping that was done.

Well I do defer to the experts. But I have seen trees topped like this and it is the method used for some types of trees.

Did these arborists say what kind of tree they were?

Also if you look at the before and after shots, those trees are trimmed like that often.

Destruction of public property. Fine them to hell and back again.

You don't fuck with tree law.

Or strikes.
