I don't think that is news to anyone who has been around a while. He has tried really hard to be less of a jerk than he came across as years and years ago; but he can still be very blunt and to the point

Are we judging people on what they did and said over 10 years ago? If so, then that says more about the one judging than the one judged.

I like Linus Torvalds. Yes, sometimes he can be cruel, but that's because he cares a lot about his projects, and managing open source software means you have to be blunt sometimes.

So you are posting in the technology community that you don't like Linus Torvalds. This is the wrong community and you are being a real asshole. I'm here for interesting articles and not personal beef. Please keep this to yourself or to a community that allows such posts.

Imagine the pressure of safeguarding the only true hope of freedom from capitalism. One cannot underestimate the importance of open source. His ego does get in the way because ultimately, everybody is replaceable. But very few could be as militantly focused on the importance of the mission. When you remove money, all the motivators are different. His ability to get results from bullying and public shaming should be studied for how its outcome is different than typical bullying. And he even went to therapy specifically to work on this. Fight another battle.
