I'm genuinely curious: Are there actual improvement / content mods for this game or is most of it gooner shit?

I didn't look but I'm not sure what the point of gooner mods would even be, swimsuit outfits and "skin tone" suit come with the base game.

People with mods installed who don't even try removing them when an update breaks are wild to me. I see the same thing in Steam Deck communities where updates don't play nice with Decky Loader or whatever.

Yeah, if you wanna mod your games, better use a version that won't get forced updates.

The #1 thing I don't like about Steam is the forced updates. They do at least still give devs a way to offer multiple versions but most of the big publishers don't do it.

Or, and now hear me out, let the choice to the user, especially for games with a lot of mods.

Good thing i bought Rimworld on GoG, Oxygen not Included on Steam get's a "Oh no!" each two sessions and i'm still salty about Surviving Mars force-updating, despite the biggest modder stopping.

Both of those things exist on Steam. If the Devs want to give access to different versions they can and many indie games do. And you can turn off updates in the settings for each game.

Edit: oof. I read badly, you already wrote that they can give access to different versions My bad for being a bad reader.

No problem. Haha just saw my "punishers" instead of "publishers" typo lol.

Sadly steam is often the best version to mod, unless a gog version exists. I sure as shit am not trying to mod an Xbox, or windows store version. Even epic and ea launcher games can have unique problems.

It's possible to unupdate with steam, though I don't remember how. Still, modded games should have updates turned off for sure.
