[A text-and-image post by @NoLieWithBTC. The images show a photo of US Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, and a photo of the Republican Party logo. The text says: "Marjorie Taylor Greene says she's starting to think the GOP is anti-women and anti-worker. 'There's women in our party that are really sick and tired of the way men treat Republican women... [The GOP] has turned its back on the workers and just regular Americans."]

Wait, is she actually just that stupid? I thought she was a standard conservitive conman but it's starting to look more and more like she is just honestly mindbogglingly dumb enough to have actually believed it all.

i'm going with "she's actually that stupid". There's only two ways to be a woman in the GOP, and everything i've seen tells me she is just the stupid kind.

She's just doing the typical right wing thing of reacting now that she's directly affected. It's the usual "why is this allowed to happen to me and who is no-one doing anything about it?!!"

It's not a moment of clarity but a realisation that her privilege is under threat

A "brainwashed smart conman" is not necessarily a contradiction, they make for some of the best preaching puppets out there.

This seems suspicious and I saw a similar headline yesterday. How would this piece of shit, MTG, do an about face all of a sudden?

Trump is the deep state now, she is new populist maga leader (or at least is aiming to be)

To me it looks like the Epstein scandal gives her a plausible way to transition to a presidential bid for 2028.

And the twists just keep coming.

She just hates the Jewish Space Lasers™ even more than she hates the libs

She is now talking about women's issues, worker's issues, leaving the GOP, and calling the genocide in Gaza a genocide. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I see hope for her.

The MAGA mindset comes to people who become contrarian. They accept the first narrative that counters the established narrative. Maybe the MAGA movement has gained so much acceptance that she is now finding left-wing views more contrarian than her old views. Maybe this is copium? Guess we'll see.

Don't over-think it. She's just saying whatever will get her ahead.

Trump isn't running for election again, according to the constitution (heh, yyeah). The mid-terms will be devastating for the Republicans. There'll be a huge shitfight among the Republicans before the next presidential election and they all need to start gearing up for that.

She knows which way the wind is blowing.

[-] JillyB@beehaw.org 2 points 2 days ago

If outspoken MAGA Republicans need to talk about these issues to get ahead, I'll take it. That still tells me that their base is getting disillusioned by the administration's actions. It's still going to push them more left.

Fascists don't have policy positions. They just say whatever people need to hear, to gain power.

They can't be 'pushed left' because they're not actually on a political spectrum. Fascism is the snuffing out of politics.

I find with people like this, they only see the problem with the issues that affect them directly (or maybe even people they care about). Some people would use this to question their belief system.

But for someone at her point in life, she will just be a Republican "except for the women's issues but I am totes not a feminist" or find another ideology that is more or less Republican but she finds aligns more with their new beliefs, like a right-wing Libertarian.

Indeed we will see, but I would be shocked if she decided to no longer be right-wing.

It looks more like opportunism than face-eating leopards.

[-] AceFuzzLord@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 days ago

Why not both?

[-] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 13 points 2 days ago

This dead horse needs to be flogged one more time:

'I never thought leopards would eat MY face,' sobs woman who voted for the Leopards Eating People's Faces Party.
