Getting ready for climate change means building fireproof homes with passivehouse levels of energy efficiency, and no fossil fuels used in their operation, and eventually their construction. Operating energy is renewables only, ideally solar and wind, with nuclear as a transition energy source only.

Being prepared to run away from a flammable home built in a tinderbox, only to rebuild and repeat the cycle is madness.
