Im dyslexic pretty bad, but somehow all my letters are just uppercase and lower case at almost random but there is a pattern to my madness that im not good at explaining. Is it possible to write normally or improve my handwriting? I want to work on many projects but they require planning or writing such as a comic i want to someday do or make a video game. Im not sure what to do for those examples.

I’ve been trying to improve my handwriting so I started doing calligraphy. Getting back to basics has really improved the legibility of my writing. Since you want to improve your consistency, the calligraphy practice work books (or even just grade school level writing books) come prelined so you can get a more consistent shape. Reading some calligraphy books helped to because it better quantified the spacing between words and lines for me. Good luck

I'm intrigued now. Could you post a picture ?

I learned to write a couple of different styles/fonts for a job I had a few years ago.

  1. Get yourself a copy of the style you would like to emulate.
  2. Use a pencil and copy the font on a lined page. The lines help with proportion, size and shape. The pencil helps with pressure regulation. Press too hard and you will break the pencil: press too light and you won't see the writing.
  3. Write slowly. Be deliberate: focus on copying the shape as precisely as you can.
  4. Practise, practise, practise. You need to develop muscle memory and that takes time.

It's doable, but it takes patience and time, like any skill. Good luck.

As a dyspraxic, I feel you. Years of special classes to try and improve my handwriting and general coordination (this was before the condition was very well understood) and none of which really worked.

I have simply learned to avoid writing by hand as much as physically possible. It's the main reason I was so interested in computers as a kid (again, before they were in everyone's pocket) and I found programming as a creative outlet very liberating from the limitations of my physical abilities.

This sounds like a problem for a professional therapist and not strangers on the internet.

For comics you may just type out everything on a computer instead of writing by hand. You could even write everything by hand initially and later overwrite everything on a computer.

Or you let your "strange" way of writing become part of your unique style.
