Lemmy users seem to overwhelmingly despise AI slop, which makes me wonder why my more communities don't have rules against it. I would love to be able to report it and have it removed.
A lot of mods probably think it goes without saying. A lot of mods maybe have the mentality of not adding too many rules until something becomes a problem. A noticeable minority of mods just don't care about ai.
A ton of communities on Lemmy are also moderated by users who are rarely, if ever, online.
We should depose them. Except I don't wanna be a lemmy mod.
AI slop is for Grandma to not question on Facebook.
You are able to report it! I will look into it, and if I am 100% sure it is AI slop I will remove it.
There's a lot of pro-AI trolls, especially on dbzero
Trolls aren't people whose views you disagree with.
They can be 😀
Is there an accepted definition or is it just all AI generated content?
I saw someone here get hassled about AI slop for posting over sharpened screen shots of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I mean, it was sharpened with AI, so it was at least a factor.
But it wasn't AI generated, so it wasn't slop.
I would think that it would only apply to AI generated images, but I suppose it would depend on the community. In this comm in particular in which all the posts are images it shouldn't be too tricky to define. As the technology advances it might eventually be impossible to spot them, though...
Yes.
I think it would be better to have rules against very low effort or unsourced/potentially misleading content, not all possible uses of AI are necessarily "slop" and the witch hunting of even non-AI stuff can get pretty bad.
The main problem is defining it.
The second is that moderation for details like that gets complex.
If it bothers you enough, you can still report it even if there's not a set rule. Enough people do that and it will be clear a rule or more enforcement is needed. Doesn't change the points above, it's not as easy as it was only a few years ago.
It will become witch hunting with time
Already is I think. The term "AI slop" is thrown around so much that sometimes it seems to be used to mean "I don't like this" and not anything AI related.
The important difference being that there's a lot of witches in this witch hunt, unlike the historical context which spawned the phrase.
But still it means innocent artists will get hurt and some of them will might lost interest in making art
Unless it porn. (I don't support it)
Edit: i support the porn, not the ai porn.
Here, in this community? You can help by reporting suspicious image posts and I'll remove them. Personally I have a hard time to identify AI images if they aren't based on real photographies.
What a gigachad deed you are taking on!
I've never felt more seen in a painting than that guy on the right.
Something about his mildly nervous irritation at something off screen paired with his wild yet dignified look as he puffs thoughtfully on his narcotics, unconsciously both ignoring and vibing off his drinking partners' deflated energy.
He simply exists in a parallel world right next to her, and I guess that's all one can hope for in life. If that's not true companionship, I don't know what is
To me they look like thy just had a fight and half-apologized but aren't over it yet.
I don't sense hostility, just indifference. To me it's like he's waiting for his friends to arrive and she cannot be arsed to feign a good time with them because she's the designated driver.
Him: "They're a fun bunch. And you and Stefan's wife get along well, don't you"
Her: "Sure... sure...."
*takes a tiny sip from her limoncello because it's all she can drink for the whole night*
It's a Degas painting called The Absinthe Drinker - she's away with the fairies.
A.I. is like absinthe - intoxicating!
