... wait, you're the actual Devil's Panties?

Hi! Someone's been posting your stuff here so I've been enjoying it though that. Thanks for the continued work!

Also, funny how things turn out, huh?

[-] JennieBreeden@lemmy.sdf.org 27 points 6 months ago

Just because I’m married with kids still doesn’t make that my life’s goal. Making impactful unifying art doesn’t stop because I’m a mom. I drew comics in the nursery while feeding my newborn at 3am. My priorities have not changed.

[-] JennieBreeden@lemmy.sdf.org 26 points 6 months ago

Sorry if this came out swinging. I’m very much a “you’re gonna have to pry the pencil out of my cold dead hand” mindset when it comes to comics or any question of doing comics.

[-] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 16 points 6 months ago

Yeah, no worries, thanks for the quick correction and all the comics throughout the years

[-] Lumisal@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

Nah it's fine, anyone who has read your comments would expect a reply like that 😂 it'd be more confusing if you didn't come out swinging.

[-] StrixUralensis@tarte.nuage-libre.fr 19 points 6 months ago

Ohhh, finally the original author came to the fedivers !

[-] moncharleskey@lemmy.zip 11 points 6 months ago

The account is 2 years old, but hopefully @JennieBreeden@lemmy.sdf.org will be more active!

holy fuck i just realized i achieved my life's goal at the ripe age of, uh, 17. wanted to be a professional musician. went out busking. someone put a one in my case. it's all i made that day but MISSION ACCOMPLISHED FUCK YEAH. I never said i necessarily had to be a good musician or nothin

[-] thatradomguy@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago

I have always found it strange how having kids is considered a milestone to achieve in life. I don't get it.

[-] Evotech@lemmy.world 16 points 6 months ago

I mean, your life after and before cannot be compared, so it is a milestone

I always found it strange how <insert random thing I don't care about here> is considered a milestone to achieve in life. I don't get it.

[-] baines@lemmy.cafe 2 points 6 months ago

because when you have kids your life is over

[-] postman@literature.cafe 1 points 6 months ago

It's spelled 'millstone'.

[-] Soulg@ani.social 4 points 6 months ago

"spay your cat girl" love it

[-] Wytch@lemmy.zip 4 points 6 months ago

Dude with eyebrow piercing, surprisingly conservative

[-] IndiBrony@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

If that was a Punisher t-shirt, I'd say I'd be much less surprised.

[-] dubyakay@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 months ago

I don't think 2006 had it appropriated yet.

[-] AceBonobo@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

I remember reading this comic back in the day. 19 years ago ..

[-] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

What is the stereotypical male life goal? I wanna use this against the guys in my life.

[-] wieson@feddit.org 5 points 6 months ago

Build a house, have a son, plant a tree.

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

get married, have kids, buy/build a house, get a nice retirement plan and a gold watch, have a nice midlife crisis, eat a really nice steak that's too big for me and finish the whole thing (and this is the important part) while a bunch of people watch and maybe I win a t-shirt, lose a pie-eating contest at some kind of local food festival, that kind of thing

one of my personal ones is to eat one of everything to maintain my dominant position on the food chain, but that's just a lil bit of fun

[-] sus@programming.dev 3 points 6 months ago

wrestle a gorilla and win, obviously

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

800 pound silverback gorilla or sun bear. one or the other, no in between

[-] Sidhean@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

Work 40+ hours and own a house, car, and wife.

[-] D_C@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 months ago

I don't think you can own wives nowadays!!

[-] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 months ago

Achieving gender equality.

[-] fubarx@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

Move out of the basement.

[-] elucubra@sopuli.xyz 3 points 6 months ago

My mother has a PhD, has lived in three continents, at 70 was still windsurfing and skiing, plants a ton of shit, has written two books, has always painted, and had her works in exhibitions... And has two children, and six grandchildren.

It's you who sets your goals and limitations (mainly)

[-] Electricd@lemmybefree.net 0 points 6 months ago

*if you get lucky and have a nice spawn

[-] elucubra@sopuli.xyz 0 points 6 months ago

Well, my sister is nice. 1out of 2 is OK, I guess ;)

[-] Electricd@lemmybefree.net 0 points 6 months ago

Why are you taking about your sister?

[-] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

They're jokingly interpreting "spawn" to refer to offspring, or children, opposed to your intended implication of circumstances of birth.

[-] Electricd@lemmybefree.net 0 points 6 months ago

I’m not a native speaker and not the best at English so 😵

[-] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

Ahhh, no worries, that's totally fair! I'm glad I over-explained it then 😄

"(mainly)" doing the heavy lifting right here

[-] Tonava@sopuli.xyz 1 points 6 months ago

Yeah, one can't exactly control being born in poverty, health issues, accidents... the list goes on. It's true though that you can still try with whatever you got. Climbing a tree is not reaching the sky, but it is off the ground

[-] elucubra@sopuli.xyz 1 points 6 months ago

This is also True.

She does come from an upper middle class family in the 1st world, so she didn't have to overcome poverty or major disabilities, but she did make the best of opportunities, and worked her ass off. Millions of women in her cohort were perfectly OK with being a housewife.

[-] akilou@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 months ago

This comic from the 50s is really ahead of its time

[-] XeroxCool@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

This wasn't the 50s, do the math! 2006 was 50 years ago

[-] krull_krull@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

I thought the joke would be about the Houses at first.

[-] Vanilla_PuddinFudge@infosec.pub 0 points 6 months ago

Is this an older one? I say that not because it looks worse, just a bit... looser, like the designs aren't as pinned-down. 2006?

[-] pyre@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

also, owning a house at 26? barely from this century

[-] udon@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

totally possible if you choose the right parents

[-] pyre@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

shit, was that a preorder bonus?
