Bit idea: always refer to this as China beating the US to the moon and never give an inch

I wonder how all these kinds of guys will be when China is on the moon, or literally even building a moon base, will they still be insisting that private companies that haven't even managed a successful manned space flight are the way forward? Will they insist that China's development somehow "doesn't count" because they took a "shortcut" or something?

probably hopium propaganda like the "India will overtake China by xxx date" that has been around for decades

I expect a new batch of moon landing hoax guys who think Apollo was real but ILRS is fake

Yeah, they'll probably look at the digital artefacting of the taikonauts and conclude that it is AI generated or something. It'll be gross. Meanwhile, the same companies they worship will literally be using AI to generate videos showing a "what if" scenario of them landing on the moon and they'll eat it all up (these companies won't have made any progress in the intervening years).

All the Chinese names of things are mispronounced in this video, of course.

Blow these peoples' mentalities!

[-] blobjim@hexbear.net 10 points 2 days ago

funny that the second half of the video is just an ad for some space startup company doing military crap???

It's funny how it's very critical and reserved about the Chinese program, but completely uncritical about the private program that is clearly much further behind. The Chinese actually have a lander prototype in the footage, but the private company mostly has CGI mockups.

This channel is sort of weekly space news, each video has one main topic then a grab bag of whatever else they could find going on. They tend to be "apolitical" lenin-dont-laugh but the upshot of that is that they cover Chinese space program stuff in english with an absolute minimum of reflexive China Bad.

This is a very interesting and informative video. It's all achievable with existing technologies that either already exist or are in their final testing phases. I have no doubt that they can do this by 2030. It may even be sooner than that.

I also really like the Long March 10 for human spaceflight. No solid boosters, no hypergolics, just plain old kerolox on the 1st and 2nd stages and hydrolox on the 3rd. Sensible safe choices.

Sensible safe choices and a solid achievable plan are really the hallmarks of the modern Chinese space program
