Spend time studying the standard openings.

Opponent responds with a non-standard move.

Blunder queen and resign.

Learn nothing from the experience.

That's why I only play blitz and bullet chess. No time to learn anything 🧠

  1. Pick an opening with few trap lines

  2. play it every single game

  3. always hit the "use computer analysis" button after a game and see if you fucked up the opening

  4. Learn the new line you didn't know.

  5. when you see non standard responses , stick to your game plan. if they trap you, learn the trap.

5a) If you don't know your game plan, learn it.

  1. you should now be able to at least last until the middle game without losing.

I did it on my lichess profile; I basically play d4 into blackmar-diemer, sometimes it devolves into the advanced french. for black it's hyperaccelerated dragon or modern (e4, c5, g6 or anything , g6). I try to stick to the same structure with black and white regardless of opponent (with the exception of known trap lines) , which means that I know the position better than my opponent; or at least I can hope for that. I still lose, but at least I make it into a middlegame and enjoy playing. Sometimes knowing the line gives me a time advantage, sometimes it's cramped but manageable.
