the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun.

I am quite conflicted. On the one hand this is extraordinarily bad for American democracy, but there is a feeling in me that said democracy farce at this point.

I also believe that this will justify further violence from the right towards lgbt/left/immigrants etc. But would that happen anyway?

Political violence is a symptom, not a cause

We were already here. Lawmakers have already been killed. Just, no one took it seriously because the Democrats miss every moment

And yes, they were already invading Chicago. They were already calling to arrest political opponents. They were going to do it all anyways

I wouldn't say it's bad for democracy. If anything, it reveals how damaged democracy already is in the US. At face value this isn't any worse than students being murdered in school shootings or (democrat) politicians being murdered. Don't get me wrong, that's all terrible but reacting only to this event reveals that the MAGAs were only waiting for any excuse to do whatever they're going to do now.

I am not able to find arguments against such superiour logic.

[-] Wilco@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

Nope. Maybe guns are good in certain circumstances.

Is this image edited or is his face really that disproportionate to his head?

[-] TheJesusaurus@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 weeks ago

Nobody knows, but it's provocative.

Reminds me of a classic German leftist joke: "If the RAF was so bad, then why is Schleier dead?"

(Wenn die RAF so schlecht war, warum ist Schleier dann tot?)

Most compelling argument against gun control I've seen all my life. Kirk has finally persuaded me

Every time I see this guy, I remember this.

[-] Donebrach@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Man, this deservedly dead guy’s child is gonna become the 3000 year old worm retrospectively living in RFKjrs brain because that’s how dumb reality is now.

What's up with putting a period in the middle of a sentence?

[-] Zink@programming.dev 9 points 2 weeks ago

If you zoom in, it looks like that thing is actually a messed up comma that barely has a tail. It's like the spork of punctuation!

[-] toothpaste_sand@lemy.nl 2 points 2 weeks ago

Poor thing oughta be put down

A lot of people put a period instead of a comma in the middle of an "if, then" statement. I don't know why.

[-] kamen@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, that's what I'm referring to as well. If one sentence doesn't make sense on its own, then it shouldn't have a period at the end. Maybe complex sentences are too difficult for some people...
