Joplin enjoyer here, I love being able to use it across all my devices synced to a NextCloud instance, I was a bit hesitant with the syncing feature at first because I thought I'd have to constantly deal with silly sync conflicts, but I have not had one syncing issue for the past 4 years or so using this app.

Organizing notes could not get any easier. I personally don't need much out of a note-taking app that already has everything I need, but it's worth mentioning that it's extensible with plugins (not to the same degree as Obsidian of course). Would definitely recommend.

Yeah, I just needed something basic to keep track of notes, and Joplin does more than enough. The sync is the real killer feature for me. I already had a NextCloud I've been running, so being able to sync notes through it was really great.

I have the Joplin server to sync and never had any issues with it. Tried a few different note taking server apps and found this one suited me the best

It used to be like 20 mb a year or so ago until an update suddenly turned it into a 90mb app. I never checked why and its still a good app but that is a factor worth considering for some people

The bigger issue for me is Joplin stores your notes in some sort of database. Obsidian, for example, stores your data in flat markdown files making it easier to import into or read in other apps.

Joplin does have a note export feature, but I found it left a mass of files that needed some manual fixing.

Ah shit i havent exported from Joplin and I'm not looking forward to this issue.

I use it all the time and it is synced through kDrive and works well.

The only downside is that I haven’t found a way to just share some of my notes. It’s not a big deal, but it means I have to share all my notes with my wife.

It has a lot of features and it deserves to be supported through donations or through their payed version.

i can't self host so im using notesnook which is pretty nice, although it has some paywalled features but nothing too important and its libre software too and e2ee. if you are running nextcloud already joplin seems better since you probably have everything there tho
