There's 673000 km2 of stupid patagonian desert, let me flood 0.1% of it and make a cool ramsar place

[-] D61@hexbear.net 9 points 3 months ago

Or did it deeper and fill it with facists.

Idk it could already be an ephemeral lake (seasonally fills up with flood waters, dries out afterwards)

[-] RNAi@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Yes but the rains will never fill it as fast as digging a channel from the river

[-] TrustedFeline@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago

That would devastate several ecosystems

eco-porky Brilliant, someplace to put the extra sea water from the icecaps melting! Now we don't need to do anything about global warming ever.

[-] Nacarbac@hexbear.net 7 points 3 months ago

How's the earthmover rental scene in the area?

[-] infuziSporg@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Find the steepest hillside, dig some swales on it, plant arid-adapted plants in guilds along the swale, and try to get grasses to situate permanently. Get the water to flow into a network of roots so it doesn't just evaporate.
