Image is of demonstrators in Italy on October 3rd in solidarity with the people of Palestine as the genocide in Gaza and the West Bank continues; source is this article.

There's way too much going on right now for me to really focus on any one country this week. The aftermath of the fall of the Nepal government has, somewhat surprisingly, reverberated around the world, and not only in countries that are enemies to the West as you'd expect; for example, Morocco's government battle fiercely with Egypt's and Jordan's to be first in line to lick the dogshit off the boots of Zionists, and yet Morocco is currently embroiled in a large protest wave based primarily around a youth unemployment crisis (though their population is also remarkably pro-Palestinian, which generates additional friction). We're also seeing similar protests in Madagascar, Peru, and Paraguay, and perhaps more will come. I'm personally fairly doubtful in the potential for meaningful economic results from these protests (the current imperialist system seems too deeply embedded for a movement that isn't explicitly communist and anti-imperialist to alter conditions), but it is quite possible for new political results at least.

Outside of the developing world, it appears that the unpopularity of western leaders, such as in the UK, France, and Italy, is creating new levels of unrest. In Britain, the political system has become so utterly moribund that even the artificial democracy of a two-party system (more-or-less; the Lib Dems do exist I suppose) no longer suffices, with both Conservatives and Labour gradually sinking. The Reform party appears like it may become the new standard-bearer of the capitalists and petit-bourgeois - that is, the historical wellspring of fascism - and the Left Party (whatever name they eventually choose) may or may not rise to meet the occasion. In France, they're on their fifth Prime Minister in two years, after Lecornu lasted about a month, attempting the liberal classic: promising change, and then appointing the exact same people who have ruled for the last few decades. And pro-Palestinian protests and general strikes have erupted in Italy, in defiance of their rightwing government under Meloni.

While there's plenty of other events (e.g. continuing aggression against Venezuela that might soon erupt into a war) it would be remise of me not to mention the very much ongoing events vis-a-vis Palestine and a potential peace deal there, seemingly supported to some degree by Trump. It could be legitimate, and it could be some big act (very likely the latter, IMO). Both Trump and Netanyahu seem to believe that they're very talented political masterminds, producing manoeuvres and feints that would make Machiavelli blush. Nothing could be further from the truth, and I trust the militant organizations inside Palestine to outplay these American failsons. Hamas and similar groups are not nearly as gullible as the Iranian reformist faction - though few people are!

Lots of talk about Ukraine receiving Tomahawk cruise missiles recently, given recent comments by US President Trump and US Vice President Vance. In response, a lot of people are incorrectly saying how "it's impossible for Ukraine to fire Tomahawks" because they'd need a highly advanced AEGIS ashore site, a warship compatible with them, or the Typhon missile system, which Ukraine will never get. Or that it would require building static infrastructure that can be easily destroyed. It would be a nice story if any of it was true, because it's not. In reality (I looked into this a few months ago after hearing similar claims and initially believing them), all Ukraine would need are some MK 70 VLS cells (with a power supply/generator) and a platform to host them. Anything from a shipping container to a two axle trailer that can be towed by a truck or even a modified pickup truck can work, the latter two axle trailer setup demonstrated by the USA in their post INF treaty ground launched cruise missile test video. So Ukraine definitely can get the portable infrastructure to launch Tomahawk cruise missiles, pictured below. No need for fancy Typhon systems, warships, or static launch sites:

As for other use cases, said VLS cells are not just compatible with Tomahawk cruise missiles, LRASM/JASSM type cruise missiles can also be modified to use them instead of being air launched, with a detachable rocket booster mounted to the bottom of the missile. SM-6 missiles in a surface to surface mode are another potential use case.

I wonder how much of this is going on in the world economy;

Raistone, a provider of short-term financing that worked on deals for First Brands, is demanding an independent examiner be appointed in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings after alleging that as much as $2.3bn has "simply vanished."

spoiler

On October 2, a bankruptcy lawyer for First Brands told Raistone that advisors don't know if First Brands has received an estimated $1.9bn. This followed the "first day hearing" where First Brands won access to a $1bn+ DIP financing to prevent the business from collapsing.

In one of the most bizarre email exchanges, Raistone's lawyer asked two simple questions: "First, do we know whether First Brands actually received $1.9bn (no matter what happened to it), and second, would you tell us how much is in the segregated accounts in respect of the factored receivables as of today?"

The response from Sunny Singh of Weil Gotshal:

"#1 - We don't know. #2 - $0."

Peru's new president, José Jerí Oré, used to follow numerous accounts that shared adult content . So far, he has unfollowed more than 300 accounts, just hours after taking office.

Peruvian president José Jerí on his X account: "The good women are seduced by love, care and respect for all the others there's Mastercard ".

Peruvian president José Jerí on his X account: "The battles against women are the only ones that you win running. Napoleon I"

(CW: Sexual Assault): In January 2025, Jerí was formally accused of sexual assault following a New Year's Eve party in Canta. The alleged incident took place at the Santa Rosa Casa Club in Quives on 29 December 2024, where Jerí was with a group of friends. Among the guests was Marco Antonio Cardoza Hurtado, who had arrived with a 31-year-old woman (the complainant) and another person. According to the complainant, she lost consciousness that afternoon and later woke up with pain in her intimate parts. The complaint identified both Jerí and Cardoza as suspects.

On 12 August 2025, the Public Prosecutor's Office, now led by Tomás Gálvez, dismissed the case against Jerí for the alleged assault after determining there was insufficient evidence to proceed. It was also reported that Cardoza Hurtado, the other suspect, had left Peru for France on 4 February without notifying prosecutors and failed to appear for the collection of biological samples.

More Venezuela developments.

An AC-130J Ghostrider Close Air Support aircraft has arrived in Puerto Rico, armed with 8x AGM-114 Hellfire air to surface laser guided missiles, and the 30mm GAU-23 autocannon and 105mm M102 Howitzer visible. Small Diameter Bombs (SDB, GBU-39 and GBU-53) can also be fitted instead of Hellfires. The aircraft also has internal launch tubes for anti tank guided missiles and 60lb class glide bombs.

4x MH-6 Little Bird and 3x MH-60 Black Hawk helicopters were also conducting military exercises on the coast of Trinidad and Tobago on October 8th, photographed. Commonly associated with US special operations forces in the Middle East. The MV Ocean Trader SOCOM ship in the Caribbean can be used to launch helicopters.

Venezuela have deployed Chinese YLC-18 3D low altitude S-band (2-4GHz) surveillance radars to pre prepared sites around the capital Caracas. Due to the topography in the area, such radars are important for detecting low flying cruise missiles or helicopters. It's not an "anti stealth" radar.

Donald Trump announces 100% tax on imports from China.

trump-drenched : "We have just learned that China has taken an extraordinarily aggressive stance on trade, sending an extremely hostile letter to the world, stating that, as of November 1, 2025, it will impose large-scale export controls on virtually all products it manufactures, and some not even manufactured by them. This affects ALL countries, without exception, and was obviously a plan they devised years ago. It is absolutely unprecedented in international trade and a moral disgrace in dealing with other nations.

"Based on the fact that China has taken this unprecedented position, and speaking only for the US, and not for other nations that have been similarly threatened, starting November 1, 2025 (or earlier, depending on any other actions or changes taken by China), the United States of America will impose a 100% Tariff on China, in addition to any Tariffs they are currently paying. Also on November 1, we will impose Export Controls on any and all critical software"

"It is impossible to believe that China would have taken such action, but they did, and the rest is history."

Looks like the "SDF" is on the verge of capitulating to the "HTS" regime in Damascus:

“The SDF will become a strong part of the new Syrian army. In the coming days, we, as the SDF command, will dispatch a delegation to the Syrian defense ministry in Damascus in order to implement the March 10 agreement. The process of SDF’s integration into the Syrian army will begin,” Abdi said.

monke-rage Portuguese local elections next sunday and things are going to get VERY annoying.

First of all what's the significance of these elections? Well they're a test for 2 things, one is the status of the communist party as the 3rd largest force on the local level, something that's been declining but maintained because of a lot of effort for local party people, and the other is the reach of the far-right Chega party at the local level after they've tied for 2nd place at the national level with the socialist party, which is likely going to affect their standing locally to a certain degree, they already poll in 3rd place in a lot of localities.

Note: Local elections work on a winner takes all system, so whoever gets the most votes gets to be mayor and has to govern with the electeds to the assembly which is by proportional representation.

It's gonna be tough, we're basically fighting to maintain the local governments in a lot of places where the communists have governed since the 70s and also where we've regained the government from the hands of the socialists or the center-right, while hoping to regain a few places we lost. It's been especially ugly because the socialists aside from their usual strategy of completely obstructing governments where the communists got first place (and therefore lead the government) but not a majority they've also taken to making fake independent coalitions by not backing their own party candidate and instead backing the same 3rd party faux independent together with the center-right, so there are a couple of anti-communist coalitions around this time, also the parties to the left of the PS but to the right of the communists, who get very little votes locally, also spoil things for us a little bit and we've lost some localities by the same margin of votes they got.

Speaking of spoilers here is the most annoying thing that will happen, the same socialist party that's fighting tooth and nail to compete and dethrone the communist party in several localities is now DEMANDING that the communists back their candidate in the capital Lisbon, not for any positive "this is what we want lisbon to be like" politics but for a squarely negative "get the current right-wing mayor out", all the left parties EXCEPT the communists have joined this "left" coalition

And seeing the polls (1,2,3), it's not unlikely that the PS will LOSE to the right, because they didn't get the communist votes. Quite ironic that support from a party that for years everyone insists is dead and has no future (it's looking more like it's the PS' future that's in jeopardy) is now so consequential. The strong communist campaign in lisbon is helped by the fact that our local guy João Ferreira is REALLY good, a strong communicator that a lot of even non-communist voters understand is the most knowledgeable about the city, he's also pretty hot (see pic attached).

Here's my opinion, I am completely fine with us spoiling the PS here, not only because I'm for now against coalitions with the center-left but also because the socialists have spent the past 4 years enabling the governance of the mayor they call "the worst mayor ever in lisbon", the socialists have abstained from EVERY government budget vote and generally approved a lot of terrible shit the lisbon mayor has done, nevermind the fact that when they WERE in charge of the mayorality before 2021 the city was ALREADY going to shit, and already was a tourist playground, it only got worse. There's also a lot of differences between the communist's project for the city and the "left coalition's" project, being that the coalition's project is mostly just the socialist's project. The socialist's campaign has also been made more by attacking the communist's for rejecting the coalition than by attacking the right. That's the thing about running a meaningful leftist "3rd party" the most you're gonna do for a long time is spoil elections for the center-left so you gotta be ok with that and not be pushed into submission by fear of the right.

All this means that this sunday could be VERY annoying if the PS does lose, because we will be blamed, and it could have solely negative political costs, much like us taking an anti-nato position on the ukraine war but so be it.

I can expect there to be the usual meltdown from people who are not party members, but are sympathizers from the outside looking in, demanding that the party "modernize" ie lib up and start compromising, regardless of the results I don't want that to happen.

“Execution of 15 people from Al-Damaghsa” with video coming shortly

This group had killed 5 security personnel. They are being dealt with presently

“A deterrent force strikes hard now at the Daghmash family and besieges the surroundings of the Jordanian Hospital

May God guide their steps and enable them against the occupation's henchmen”

Context for the executions

“A very painful and serious incident occurred this afternoon in Gaza City, specifically in the Tal al-Hawa area.

A young man named Mohammed Al-Muqayyad and four of his relatives went to their area to check on his uncle's house, but what was unexpected was that a group from the Daghmash family stopped them and asked: “What brings you to the area?” Then one of them called the army and informed them of their presence, and the shocking response was: “Should we eliminate them?” — and they were ordered to open fire!

Some of them were shot in the leg, abdomen, and back, and Mohammed was martyred and taken to Al-Maamadani Hospital.

Therefore, I urge everyone to be extremely cautious and not to approach areas where the army or armed groups are present, as the situation is unbearable, and recklessness at these moments may cost innocent lives.

May God have mercy on the martyr Mohammed and all those who were unjustly killed, and may God protect all our people.”

Hamas have also captured 17 other collaborators while reestablishing control over the strip

“After fierce clashes that took place last night and extended into this morning, the security forces "Resistance Security" managed to arrest 17 members of the Al-Mansi gangs, including the first assistant to the gang leader in northern Gaza.”

Buk-M2E/SA-17 Grizzly air defence systems deployed to the Venezuelan capital Caracas yesterday. This is Venezuela's second most advanced air defence system (behind the S-300VM/SA-23) and is quite modern in comparison to the S-125/SA-3 systems deployed earlier. Venezuela is assessed to have 12 batteries/fire units, which works out to four battalions under two regiments under Soviet/Russian air defence doctrine for the Buk system. (3 batteries = 1 battalion. 2 battalions = 1 regiment. One battery is 2x combined radar and launcher vehicles with four missiles each, and 1x dedicated launcher vehicle with six missiles. A battalion is 3x batteries plus a command vehicle and dedicated radar vehicle. I'm going off of memory for these numbers)

New Report Warns U.S. Shipbuilding Collapse Threatens National Security

The Coalition for a Prosperous America (CPA) has released a new economic report detailing how America’s capacity has dramatically declined as China’s state-funded maritime industry has overtaken global shipbuilding.

more

The report, “How to Solve America’s Shipbuilding Crisis,” reveals that decades of free-market policies have transformed the United States from the world’s leading shipbuilder in 1975 to its 19th largest today. The stark contrast in production capacity is alarming – the U.S. now produces fewer than five large commercial vessels annually, while China builds over 1,700, according to a recent Biden-era report from the U.S. Trade Representative.

stonks-down

“Shipbuilding must be a cornerstone of U.S. industrial policy,” said CPA senior economist Mihir Torsekar, the report’s author. “Every one shipbuilding job supports almost five additional jobs elsewhere in the economy. It’s time to correct the misguided policies of the past that surrendered our global leadership of this critical industry to China.” The report highlights how China has methodically expanded its maritime dominance through industrial policies, massive subsidies, and strategic investments, growing from roughly 5% of global shipbuilding market share in 2000 to over 50% today. This expansion extends beyond commercial shipbuilding into global port infrastructure, creating serious national security implications.

According to the CPA, China’s military-civil fusion strategy has successfully integrated commercial and military shipbuilding, making China both the world’s top commercial shipbuilder and its largest and fastest-growing naval power. Jon Toomey, President of the CPA, explained that “The erosion of America’s shipbuilding industry began in the 1980s, driven by free-market economic policies that withdrew critical government support. And when the administration terminated federal shipbuilding subsidies, that decision caused the U.S. commercial shipbuilding market to collapse virtually overnight.”

To address these challenges, the CPA proposes several solutions, including strengthening the Jones Act, establishing a shipbuilding industrial fund, implementing tax incentives, investing in domestic shipyards, imposing strategic fees on Chinese maritime assets, expanding U.S.-flagged fleets through cargo preference laws, and coordinating with allies against unfair practices. The report highlights that rebuilding America’s shipbuilding capacity is not just an economic imperative but a national security necessity. The Arctic region is becoming increasingly important as environmental changes unlock new shipping routes and access to critical minerals needed for advanced technology. The CPA concludes that by countering unfair competition and rebuilding domestic capacity, the United States can regain its shipbuilding prowess while creating thousands of skilled jobs and ensuring America’s influence in global maritime affairs.
