as title, don't know if there are some updates on this, has Lemmy added support to categorize communities?

To my knowledge, Lemmy doesn't support it yet but it's being worked on. Piefed does have it, and some apps may also support it already

I'm unsure if Lemmys implementation will be compatible with Piefed

for now Voyager seems to be the only app that supports both lemmy and piefed ☞ https://f-droid.org/packages/app.vger.voyager

Oh shoot my bad. It isn't. But they do claim to be open source. I haven't done even the slightest check on that though.
