My stepdad shot one in the face with a 9mm pistol from about 6ft away.
The bullet went under the skin on its forehead, traveled around the top of its skull, and out the skin on the back of its head. All it did was stun the hog long enough for him to grab his 30-06 from the Mule
There's a rectangle of mostly hog-free land in Ontario and a bit of Quebec.
Also Wyoming, winters get pretty brutal here so they don't thrive well
