Congrats! That's some solid clean time.

Congrats! I quit weed about 3 months ago. May not abstain forever but I needed a reset in my relationship with it, plus if I do pick it back up it will be edibles only, I don't need any more lung damage.

I'm in the exact same position, I was coughing myself to death and still smoking weed. I also quit earlier this year. Good luck to you!

Inspiring, keep it up! I'm on day 5 right now... Been feeling like I've been numbing my feelings and couch-locking myself in front of YouTube for years at this point, and I'm only just realizing it. My dreams are insanely vivid right now and so are my feelings, the latter of which has actually been kinda nice to just cry and let them out a bit

great accomplishment, comrade.

after being a daily drinker through my 20s into my 30s (especially 2020-2022), one night i consumed alcohol + weed + psilocybin extract in mezcal (my first mushroom trip) and i completely lost the taste for alcohol a few months later. It tastes like rubbing alcohol and headaches instead of freedom and escape. i'm extremely relieved that this happened without any mental effort on my part, i just lost the urge to drink alcohol. daily weed consumption hasn't abated tho

Yeah, that's what worked for me the one time I pulled it off for a couple years.

[-] take_five_moments@hexbear.net 0 points 2 weeks ago

idk, real answer is it took getting fired from a really shitty job and a lot of therapy to get used to the idea of not being a drunken mess every night. my partner threatening to leave was just the icing on the cake.

Self Improvement

333 readers
1 users here now

A community which focusses on improving yourself. This can be in many different ways - from improving physical health or appearance, to improving mental health, creating better habits, overcoming addictions, etc.

While material circumstances beyond our control do govern much of our daily lives, people do have agency and choices to make, whether that is as "simple" as disciplining yourself to not doomscroll, to as complex as recreating yourself to have many different hobbies and habits.

This is not a place where all we do is talk about improving "productivity" (in a workplace context) and similar terms and harmful lifestyles like "grindset". Self-improvement here is intended to make you a generally better and happier person, as well as a better communist, and any other roles you may have in your life.

Rules and guidelines:

  1. Posts should be about self-improvement. This is obviously a wide category, and can range from advice, to finding resources, to self-posts about needing to improve in a certain area, or how you have improved, and many other things.

  1. Use content warnings when discussing difficult subjects.

  1. Do not make medical decisions solely because of a discussion you have had with any person here (e.g. whether to take or not take medications; diagnoses; etc.) as we do not vet people. All medical problems should be discussed with a real-life medical professional.

  1. Do not post harmful advice here. If this is seen, then please report it and we shall remove it. If you are unsure about whether it's precisely harmful advice or not but feel uneasy about it, please report it anyway.

  1. Do not insult other users and their lifestyles or their habits (unless they ask, I suppose). This is a place for self-improvement. Critique and discussion about a course of action is encouraged over shit-flinging. Don't talk down to people.
