Well, the American right is not really a unified block with common material interests, but a hodgepodge mix of QAnon conspiracy theorists, cultural warriors, neoconservatives, Christian Nationalists, corporatists, etc. It’s no surprise that as a whole they are self-sabotaging and dysfunctional. The big surprise really was that Trump was able to hold all of them together for so long, but even that looks increasingly untenable as his popularity wanes.

I encounter a lot of normies in my work - they're sick of this shit. I've talked with well to do PMC people who are very alarmed and ready to or are getting out in the streets. Make no mistake, people are fed the fuck up.

The right are just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. They're pushing all the fascism boundaries and finding where there's legit resistance and where it's weak enough that they can push through it. And it seems like they've mostly found out that they can get away with it.

Will there be a shortterm backlash against the right electorally? Probably..but in the slightly longer term maybe electoral results will matter even less.
