Jfc...

STOP GOING TO REDDIT!

it's been 2+ years since they proved they don't give a flying fuck about it's users. If you are getting banned now, you're only complaining because it now affects you.

it took me getting banned to go look for alternative platforms.

I check Reddit every now and then and fuck it's gotten so much worse. I recommend anyone to leave Reddit.

there a cost to leaving a platform you've been in for a long time. had contacts I miss and cant reach to them because I was banned. also, it does take time to find niche communities you love.

on top of that it's a bit of a boiling frog alive situation, it gets enshitified so gradually that if you survive dealing with it until now, then you can tolerate it a bit more.

I check Reddit every now and then and fuck it’s gotten so much worse.

Mostly it's the very popular and controversial subreddits that are highly likely to have roving bots for which to drop instabans, mainly on anyone discussing even remotely committing violence on right-wing characters.

Also FU SPEZ.

meanwhile conservatives can chant about killing trans people and no one minds.

I came clean of Reddit last week. It took a couple of tries, since it's like an addiction. But here I am. Also, I weren't banned from Reddit.

"Wow he's so hot 😍
But he killed a guy 😡
But it was the CEO of a health care company 🤩"

i've seen that back and forth so many times on reddit

[-] lechekaflan@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Now it's not just permabans for talking about committing violence against Nazis.

[-] MiddleAgesModem@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Pff, no, no you don't.

What a ludicrous claim. Luigi is all over Reddit.

[-] alias_qr_rainmaker@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

maybe, but i've been in like a zillion popular threads over the last few years, and people on reddit always talk about how they aren't allowed to say luigi.

[-] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Complete and utter horseshit. There’s several subreddits in his name that are dedicated to discussing his innocence and demanding his freedom.

Stop manufacturing outrage.

[-] dickalan@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

You do realize the Internet is a dynamic place and that they were clamping down fucking hard as fuck around the time it happened to prevent any sort of movement surrounding him to be started, I know you're new, but please don't think what you see on the Internet right now is the same it was before

[-] Ithi@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago

Except this was posted here today with present tense.

[-] PixelPilgrim@lemmings.world 0 points 1 week ago

lol im comparing these results to lemmy and yeah lemmy subreddits get nuked

[-] Resplendent606@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

They can't ban me, I already deleted my Reddit account. Also, Mangione is innocent.

[-] Cruel@programming.dev 0 points 1 week ago

You actually believe they planted evidence on him?

[-] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

You’d be surprised at how many people here actually think this is true. Remember, this is the crowd that will adamantly argue that some doesn’t mean all-

… while simultaneously plastering ACAB when it’s not even topically relevant.

[-] Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.org 0 points 1 week ago

They either fumbled his arrest astronomically for no reason or they did plant evidence on him. Given the fact that he doesn't even look like the guy from the cctv footage my money is on the latter.

[-] cheesybuddha@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I don't think that's true - I comment on posts all the time on Reddit about Luigi. Or used to, anyway

Now, when Reddit started running adds for border patrol and ICE, that's when the clickthroughs stopped happening.

[-] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

OP is entirely full of shit.

[-] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

So the actual story of what is going on lately is more or less that the ~~Keystone~~ Altoona PD that arrested him at the McDonalds?

Yeah, they're looking like they illegally searched through his backpack without a search warrant, and thus... well, all of that may no longer be admissable as evidence.

... Oops.

I'm not saying Luigi like, has this in the bag, he's gonna walk, no, nothing like that...

... But if just... the most incriminating physical evidence of the case ... is dismissed?

Prosecution is gonna have a lot harder of a time getting a conviction, than with that evidence in play.

[-] sepi@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

reddit is for bots and dipshits

[-] MightyThistle@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I feel guilty for almost making an account there. I decided against it. Most threads are just godawful for worthwhile discussion too and seem to mostly be the same jokes or memes being recycled over and over

I can't spell today oops

there should be laws about bots pretending to be users. every social media should have a clear indication a user is a bot.

High fines for the platform as well as whoever controls that account.

I hate that there are some semantic parallels, but social networks need to be clanker segregated.

is there a use for bots in social media? yhea, many bots are beloved in discord or Reddit (pre LLMs)? they are fine as long as they aren't pretending to be people.

[-] TachyonTele@piefed.social 0 points 1 week ago

I think it's hilarious they chose to pin the death of a leech on this extremely good looking guy. They really should have picked someone people weren't going to like.

[-] tabarnaski@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

Maybe because the investigation naturally led them to Mangione, and everyone claiming he's been framed are wrong.

Sometimes there's no conspiracy.

[-] TachyonTele@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

How do you take what I said as literal?

[-] slackassassin@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

Because tons of comments are literal, including in this very thread.

[-] tabarnaski@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

Because I don't know you.

[-] Proprietary_Blend@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago

That's one side of the story, anyway.

BTW, I was banned for jumping on this wagon, too.

Luigi is banneable on Reddit??? it is getting worse.

[-] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

No. It’s bullshit. OP has admitted in other posters that they enjoy lying to people. I just checked Reddit and there’s TONS of contend and even several subs dedicated to Luigi.

This is the outrage definition of manufactured outrage.

They love pissing each other off here. And I honestly don’t understand why.

Sounds like they are on their way to get banned here too if they just want to spread missinformation

[-] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago

I doubt it. I’ve been banned from a few communities/instances for calling out protected trolls. They can thrive here.
