Holy hell what a masterpiece! Cameron fucking did it again.

I don't even know what to say. I just came home from the movie theater and I'm still shaking.

Also, Varang is easily waifu of the year. Stole every scene she appeared in. I am legitimately sad I'll never have a 4 meter tall, lanky pyromaniac girlfriend to make homemade flamethrowers with ;_;

I feel the marketing for this one has been nearly non-existent, especially compared to the previous one. It feels like the studio wants to kill the franchise because it takes up too many resources.

It's amazing the stuff that slips by you when you use an adblocker and don't watch broadcast or cable TV (I also had no idea)

It was a ton of fun!

I don't want to speak for OP but I'll speak for OP and say it was an Avatar movie

[-] MF_COOM@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago

If you felt so strongly about the last one why are you even paying attention to the franchise there are so many great films in this world

[-] ikilledtheradiostar@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago

Its just a bit that people do. The movies are fine 6.5/10 slop. Totally watchable.

[-] Yeat@hexbear.net 1 points 1 week ago

It’s not a bit and they aren’t slop

[-] ea6927d8@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 week ago

I just watched it.

It's kind of awkwardly paced in regard with the previous installment.

It's more or less the same story, but too long for a single session and too short for the amount of screentime they intended.

The visuals are great as ever; there are some good sequences; the character developments were minor, but alright; the actor who plays Spider is awful.

It's not a cinema masterpiece by any other means than visuals, but I didn't feel cheated out of my ticket.

if it's not slop then why is my little piggie trough overflowing?

What did you think of the 6-minute long trailer or prologue for The Odyssey?

[-] GrantUsEyes@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Haven't watched the prologue but from everything that's transpired to the media about the movie I don't think there is a timeline where it can be good.

[-] RedDawn@hexbear.net 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

I only just realized after seeing Avatar myself, that the prologue only showed before IMAX showings of Avatar.

I also haven’t been plugged into the media so I haven’t heard the reports that you reference, what happened? I would be surprised if it doesn’t turn out decent just because I’ve liked most of Christopher Nolan’s movies and I heard this thing had a huge budget.

[-] GrantUsEyes@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

Not really something that happened but just some of the choices made by Nolan seem off. like casting hollywood a listers just because instead of people who fit the characters. costume design feels bland and boring for the epoch is trying to portray, the fact that its' such a long story and how is it going to fit in a single movie adaptation? I'm sure It will be a visually impressive spectacle but beyond that? I'm not sure. And I like Nolan, it just doesn't feel promising to me.

the only thing I like about there being a new Avatar: a new Walter Chaw pan

That might be the most scathing movie review I've ever read.

That was... interesting. Thanks for sharing it.
