Christmas has come early with a new Dolphin Progress Report! There's some juicy technical details, so I definitely recommend that folks read the full report if that sounds interesting, but here's the high-level summary of user-facing impacts (click the ¶ symbol to the right of each heading to jump to the relevant section in the progress report):

I love reading Dolphin's dev blogs even tho some of the stuff goes way over my head. The author does fantastic job explaining the technical details in a interesting and easy to understand way.

Even when I'm not going to play something—which is most of the time, since rarely play video games these days—I like to start up Dolphin every now and then and read through the pull requests to see what people have been contributing to the project. Whether it's humble code cleanup, small GUI tweaks, obscure bug fixes, or big new features, it's all people using their unique skills and pouring their blood, sweat, and tears into improving this wonderful piece of software to be the best way to preserve and play GameCube and Wii games. And with the world going to hell in a handbasket, it's a small but constant reminder of something that exists outside the profit model, of people working together for the love of discovery, preservation, and helping their communities. doggirl-happy
