OP discovers adults are just tall children.

[-] 5714@lemmy.dbzer0.com 96 points 4 months ago

Based on the maturity level alone, those would've been perfect for each other, but I guess this wasn't about maturity at all.

[-] fibojoly@sh.itjust.works 65 points 4 months ago

Well no, that's the thing they each wanna be children and so they both are looking for a parental figure. It's fucking exhausting.

[-] 5714@lemmy.dbzer0.com 25 points 4 months ago

Nah, that's just greedy to expect 100% childish time and no return.

Imho it's perfectly valid to have your goal to be a lifestyle sub 24/7, but you do have to accept the fact that most partners who are willing to lifestyle dom with no breaks are abusers, so you have a very high chance of being unhappy. Good doms who don't ever need a break are as rare as unicorns, so you'd better have plenty to offer them.

Then again, a lot of people looking for this kind of relationship on some psychological level want to be abused. It's a learned helplessness thing. Some people have lost so much of their ability to trust others, they need a partner who acts abusively (or pretends to) so they can let go of that feeling of paranoia that it's going to get worse. So they can stop looking over their shoulder and waiting for the other shoe to drop. It's not rational, but that's the kind of person you create when you abuse children. They grow up into adults who don't know what to do with themselves in a healthy relationship.

damn, this kinda sounds like me... always avoided relationships entirely because never saw a happy/successful one growing up. always been kind of paranoid...shit finally going my way/confident in the future and it just feels...wrong

Choice liberalism without the personality infrastructure... yeah, no.

Ladies, get real, get self respect, and aim higher than being given princess treatment.

Hi Frankie Boyle!

I didn't know you were on Lemmy.

;D

(Oh, oh so painful cringe comedy. Discomforting laugh. Oof. Brutal).

[-] falseWhite@lemmy.world 56 points 4 months ago

Oh boy. Anon is onto something here.

Let's all just agree to treat each other like children. I'll start:

Go clean your room before I take off my belt.

[-] MisterFrog@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Jokes on you, my parents never used physical punishment, so this hasn't stirred me to action. So, take that!

[-] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 25 points 4 months ago

These are the same ones that complain that drama always follows them and that it’s everyone else around them that are causing all the trouble. These people can be fun to hang out with, but not remain close to for long periods. They tend to be self destructive.

There’s plenty of adults. Anon just isn’t hanging out with them.

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago

what about self aware self destructive drama magnets? i got a couple of those in the circle and they cool

[-] Wren@lemmy.today 17 points 4 months ago

Don't kinkshame. I can't come until someone implements a curfew.

[-] menas@lemmy.wtf 15 points 4 months ago

The missing word seems to be "caretaking"

Yeah but in the bad way.

Like 'little girls disproportionately suffer eating disorders, so that means the giving little boys eating disorders market is totally untapped!' Shitlib equality

[-] Wren@lemmy.today 5 points 4 months ago

Everyone gets a tiara, a chainsaw, a penis and a vagina, and the liberals win.

[-] cassandrafatigue@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 4 months ago

Oh... Oh that last one is really unfortunate.

I totally could have gone for a chainsaw.

[-] Wren@lemmy.today 0 points 4 months ago

I believe in you. Get a chainsaw. Gas-powered sound beastlier and make you smell deliciously rugged.

[-] cassandrafatigue@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 4 months ago
[-] Wren@lemmy.today 1 points 4 months ago

I still believe in you.

Children are in training to be a 2nd class citizen as an adult.
