U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh has suggested Donald Trump could attempt to deploy troops to U.S. cities under the Insurrection Act.

The Insurrection Act of 1807 allows the president to call on reserve or active-duty military to suppress rebellion or domestic violence or enforce the law in states.

Kavanaugh’s remarks came in a separate opinion after the court on Tuesday refused to allow the Trump administration to deploy National Guard troops in the Chicago area to support its immigration crackdown.

The high court declined the administration’s emergency request to overturn a ruling by U.S. District Judge April Perry that had blocked the deployment of troops. Three justices—Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch—publicly dissented.

The cool part is how his admin's crackdown on "illegals" has completely eradicated crime. So of course deploying troops will only make america even greater! /s

Brown crime. White crime is still all the rage and in full force.

This is so funny to me... because I grew up around criminals. Some of them were Arabic, but they were just a few in larger groups of white criminals - who all colluded together.

Since the police racially profiled the Arabic kids they were used as bait while the white kids would transport the illicit goods.

Then the cops would end up with no evidence and the cases got dismissed. Now that's what I call gaming the system.

Reminds me of the boyfriend of an old coworker. Before he turned his life around, he was an addict that the cartels used a few times to run drugs across the border. The way that worked was that they'd dress him up in some nice clothes, a pair of sunglasses, and throw him in a beautiful convertible with the top down and a load of drugs in the trunk. Border patrol would never bother to stop or check a rich white guy coming back from a 3 day weekend in Mexico, and he'd drop the car off at a gas station a few miles past the border.

Martial law by June

WHAT rebellion?

He doesn't care because he's not vulnerable to it like the rest of us without special security and giant houses to bunker in away from the chaos. I suggest he be placed directly in the path of the military once the insurrection act is used so he can fully appreciate his wisdom.

He tries to pull that and I have a feeling he’ll get a real insurrection or 50 to deal with. Surely that would be the line too far, right guys???

Thing is, none of the troops want to go out and be jack booted storm troopers for fat old dementia Donald.

Some, but nowhere near as many as voted for him. There's a gigantic canyon between "willing to vote and argue for him" and "willing to fight and die for him." Especially after how much of a letdown his 2nd term has been for a lot of people.

I bet this is exactly the kind of thing German citizens were saying to each other in the 30s.

Assume 50%, the military subset of the electorate probably matches the distribution of the public electorate.

probably

The military is actually considerable more diverse and lower compensated than the general US population. But also considerably more male, so it's really anyone's guess, but they all have families and friends who are Americans, so it's unlikely they are going to be categorically willing to fight a war against their own country.

Here's a picture of Karl Rove with a young Brett Kavanaugh if you don't think this has been plan for a long time. Brett's been groomed to serve the Ruling Class since he was very young.

[-] GraniteM@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Why does "young" Brett already look like an alcoholic in his late fifties?

[-] bigfondue@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

He likes beer okay!
