Changing my part of the deal also by not showing up.

I've got a pair of friends who I would regularly get lunch with at a certain buffet, but one would always bring whoever they were hitting on at that time. I started implementing a policy that they had to last past 3 lunches before I would learn their name because the rotation was too damn quick.

The other day I invited the blondie I was into over to my place to have some tea and chill with a movie. She then showed up with one of her girlfriends who kept derailing my attempts at striking up conversations with her and generally cockblocking me.

I ended up spending the evening entertaining the other girl, as she was really into my little CRT TV and old school videogames despite being terrible at playing them. I didn't get to enjoy the company of the girl I was into because of her friend. 2/10 hopefully never again.

I believe women often do that so they feel safe.

I was just about to say that, which makes the 'bringing a second person' bit understandable.

Completely preventing someone in a group from having conversation with another? Not so much.

So just say no to hanging out, or let the person know you're bringing company?

Sometimes you gotta win the friends before winning the person

Suddenly polyamorus?

This comment is such a red flag, lol. If she brought someone else that means she didn't feel safe alone with you, and apparently you're only thinking about how that affects you.

Lemmy is such a boys club. It's astonishing that this is top comment. And my reply will get downvoted by the boys club, as per usual.

We hung out by ourselves prior to that multiple times, so I doubt it's that. Perhaps her friend was around and she brought her along instead of sending her home, but a heads up would've been nice.

Excellent! Your first comment didn't make it sound like you were thinking about anything other than your own frustration and came off a certain way that I am very used to on Lemmy. Your second comment is a completely different tone and makes me feel like a jerk, lol.

Maybe she thought things were moving too fast?

Damb guys I have the opposite reaction, I love it when they bring extra people. The more the merrier, turn the kickback into a party
