Watching football on CBS right now. The commercials are military recruitment ads. The network promos are for cop shows. The 60 Minutes spot is a puff piece on bourbon barrels (you know, America's liquor).

It took less than a year for them to go from halfway respectable to full fascism.

Would you like to know more?

For decades, CBS had the reputation as being the Gold Standard of broadcast news. Now they're just one more mouthpiece for the Conservative Propaganda Machine, and it's only going to get worse. Their taking control of the news first, because that's on a 24 hour cycle, so you can make a fast impact.

Next will be seasonal programming. They might be able to influence some show that's are being currently shot for the Spring, but we should really see some difference in the Fall line-up. I'm expecting a lot of Copaganda.

They ruin everything the contact. I grew up reading National Geographic every month for decades, and a few years ago they sold to Fox. Suddenly, at least every other cover had a religious theme, and many of the rest had to do with Confederate history. It was literally the finest publication on the planet, and the Conservative Propaganda Machine ruined it.

Fucking fuck. Immediately after I posted this they literally ran an ICE recruitment ad.

If kidnapping and concentration camps are illegal, where can I contribute to class action lawsuits against the organizations truly terrorizing our country?

If pressing charges against Them on all fronts isn't the right action to take, what is?

No seriously, it'll be helpful to know what people can do beyond the casual like-and-repost.

Alternative headline: "American government unable to control Canadian media sources" .

100% god bless the Canuk that made the "error" causing this to be released on the web.

[-] B1ackmsth@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 month ago

It wasn't an error. The trump regime has no control over Canadian broadcasters. It was just aired as normal

[-] chaogomu@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Yes and no.

Bari Weiss does have a say over whether 60 minutes can air, anywhere.

Bari Weiss is CBS News Editor and chief, and not a member of the Trump admin, despite how much it looks otherwise at the moment.

So yes, this was either an error, or an "error".

[-] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

They could’ve, if Weiss torpedoed the piece earlier.

And yet half the voters expected the president to control Israel and Russia with a wave of his hand. Lfl.

Thank you for posting this, The conditions inside CECOT are awful, very sad to see that innocent people were held there. An important documentary, I wonder why they decided to shelve it.

[-] Washedupcynic@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 month ago

They decided to shelve it because what the trump admin was doing was illegal, and it absolutely puts all of them in a bad light, on top of being horrible abuses. Today, they demonize brown people, tomorrow, you or me.

[-] sin_free_for_00_days@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 month ago

Honestly, pretty sad to see for a lot of the not innocent people too. Inhumane.

[-] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 month ago

It's sad for everyone there, including people who might be "guilty". You don't treat anyone like this.

[-] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Bari Weiss is really bad at her job. Which is nice for the country

[-] theherk@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

My share ratio just keeps climbing. I hope everybody watches it.

[-] AnchoriteMagus@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Bari Weis is a kapo and deserves the fate of all collaborators.
