so after 2 hours of staring into a backlit screen neurogenesis occurs

the second type of neurogenesis happen when like reading AI garble (derealization & psychosis) and doomscrolling (casino effect) and being terminally online in an social media echo chamber

okay. so. does it matter for any sort of brainrot to switch to an e-ink display? i am assuming it stops neurogenesis but idk

you're right, neurodegeneration is the word missing.

thanks all, appreciate the comments stating i am not making sense to you all right now.

go figure i'm one asking for takes on brainrot and how to minimize it by display technology.

"Display technology" isn't inherently bad.

Maybe it's like when you fuck up trying to make coffee in the morning because you haven't had coffee yet.

On the plus side you made me learn a new word!

OP, are you okay? You're not making sense.

E-ink aren't really a 'screen'. It's more something that imprint tiny shell of some kind of ink. And it stay visible even when the display is off. Think of it like the Telecran. I'm not completely sure, but it's what's I understand from reading it. So I don't think it can occur brainrot or any trouble, aside from the same as reading text for hours

I think neurogenesis is the opposite of Brain rot

Didn't knew we are already in 1984 newspeak.

[-] Sunsofold@lemmings.world 5 points 1 week ago

No. What you are looking at is more important than the screen you see it on.

Neurodegeneration is caused by biological processes like disease and aging.

However, a lack of stimulation to promote learning and engagement will result in the brain losing its ability to learn efficiency and effectively and a loss of motivation to engage in these activities.

This isn't neurodegeneration.

It's brain plasticity. The brain adapts to the needs of the person. And the needs are determined by what activities they engage in and the stimuli of the environment.

Research often focuses on what is called "enriching environments/activities" to support that these things promote good memory, attention span, and general intelligence.

Early life environments make the biggest impact on someone but can't make up for a lifetime of low stimulating environments.

Low effort cognition will result in lower abilities.

The brain works like a muscle. Use it or lose it.
