Today its his Birthday juche-WPK

The cause of Juche, pioneered and led by President Kim Il Sung and General Kim Jong Il, are being carried forward by Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.

Kim Jong Un is possessed of unbounded loyalty to the revolutionary cause of Juche, outstanding leadership ability, matchless courage and pluck, and popular traits. Thanks to his ennobling loyalty and moral obligation, a new phase was opened up in implementing the cause of immortalizing the leader.

Accordingly, the beaming image of General Kim Jong Il has been implanted in the minds of the people and the sacred history of his revolutionary activities continues without let-up. Through his energetic ideological and theoretical activities, Kim Jong Un formulated the great leaders’ revolutionary ideology as Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, and he is leading the Korean people to march straight ahead along the road of independence, the road of Songun and the road of socialism.

A perfect statesman of the present era, he accompanied General Kim Jong Il on the road of the Songun-based leadership, working with devotion for the development of the Party, the country and the army. Upon being appointed as Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army, he has inspected one army unit after another, which is giving a powerful impetus to the enhancement of the country’s defence capability and the victorious advance of the cause of socialism.

In March 2013, when the situation on the Korean peninsula was growing acute owing to the uninterrupted war moves by the US, a plenary meeting of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea was held. At this meeting he advanced a new strategic line of simultaneously conducting economic construction and building up the nuclear forces.

In accordance with this line, he led the cause of building the country’s nuclear forces to victory, thus increasing the strength of socialist Korea to the highest level and developing the country into the Juche-oriented nuclear power.

By adhering to the principle of self-reliance and self-development the Korean people have built monumental edifices for their well-being and raised fierce flames of the industrial revolution in the new century, pushing back the frontiers of science and technology. They have achieved one eye-opening success after another in the fields of science, education, literature and the arts, and sports, bringing about an epochal turn in building a knowledge-based economy and a civilized socialist power.

Cherishing the life-long motto of the great leaders who believed in people as in heaven, Kim Jong Un administers politics of prioritizing the interests of the people and respecting and loving them in order to translate their beautiful dreams and ideals into reality. He shows paternal affection for and trust in the people to rally the service personnel and other people firmly around the Party.

The traditional single hearted unity of the country has been consolidated on the basis of his ennobling view of comrades and comrades-in-arms. All the people share the same destiny with their leader, advancing the revolution arm in arm and shoulder to shoulder with him. Thanks to his unshakeable determination to reunify the country, the national reunification movement is making rapid progress. He has thwarted the imperialists’ war moves and rendered an outstanding contribution to ensuring global peace and stability and promoting the cause of independence for mankind, thereby winning international recognition as the great guardian of justice.

In reflection of the people’s unanimous will and desire he was elected Chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, and he was awarded the title of Marshal of the DPRK.

The project of Western civilization seems to be largely oriented around diminishing how many steps people take. Not merely as an energy-efficiency thing, but as something that indulges the human capacity for laziness.

It's backwards to think about "getting your steps in" when the whole society is structured around stopping you from walking places, by either bringing every resource right under your nose, or positioning it so far away that it would take several hours to walk there.

It started with domestication of equines, progressed with the emergence of an underclass who could serve as porters or rickshaw operators, and went into overdrive with modern technology that hooked us on every last indolence through the power of ecological overshoot and resource depletion, concealing our connections to this through the opacity of the market.

We tell ourselves histories about people having to go seek things out on foot, like it's an unthinkable horror story.

Walking is one of the most fundamental things to being human. You can think and talk and perceive and process the world while you walk. You form a real, internalized, unalienated connection with your world and the people in it when you walk. When we are unable or disincentivized to walk places, we end up with all kinds of health problems, which ironically then get trotted out as reasons why we shouldn't walk places, and the spiral deepens.

Smash the asphalt, send up the gas stations in a cloud of smoke, retvrn to communal living in the longhouse, and for the love of all that is holy, allow a pedestrian radius of more than 20 steps for major daily functions. A society that is sprawled out in the interest of bringing convenience to everyone right in their portioned-off space is not a society worth living under. A wise society has everyone (besides the critically infirm) walking at least 2 kilometers a day.

power armor actually makes sense in the fallout setting if it's made to be an anti-insurgency device,

keep canadians from kirking the grunts with small arms--when faced with actual militaries--PLA, NCR, it's shit. every AP round and anti-tank rifle in a kilometer is finding its way inside that stupid hulk. and it follows you could have a wasteland faction all about it, cause 90% of the inhabitants have civilian grade munitions

The argument is got into with my uncle over christmas thar is entirely devoid of politics and entirely about semantics. So he was theyoungest and clearly favorite of the 3 boys who are my dad and uncles and was a lil 1970s radioshacl nerd who is now an electrician who quotes family guy jokes while being almost 60 and clearly gets away with being a loudmouth know it all. I forget the context that began it but I me toned something about a salad fork whixh had 3 tongs and he said 'well akshually it's a trident'. I replied that a trident is a category of fork because the fork refers to the split between the tines and that a snakes tongue and a two way split in a road are referred to as forks as well. He then said I was being pedantic and then called me Sheldon as a old person way of insulting someone by calling them autistic. Motherfucker, you brought being pedantic to the table and were fucking owned, dont be a sore lower and act like you were above it all when you fuckong started it. Overconfident stem guys go way back and they've always been just...the worst

So funny to me that the director and writer Alex Garland, the creative genius behind such films as the terminally Trump- and Twitter-brained Civil War(2024) and the Iraq War apologia Warfare(2025) which I only know from that maudlin clip where the American weeps to himself after killing three generations of one family, collaborated with the director and writer and commercial hack Danny Boyle, creator of such visionary works as 2019's Yesterday and 2015's Aaron-Sorkin-written Steve Jobs, on their quarter-century old zombie film franchise to create the most touching and thoughtful film I watched last year (28 Years Later). And I saw some pretty good stuff.

In all seriousness,Both Boyle and Garland have made films I've liked, but for Garland it had been seven years since he put out a good film (I enjoy the direction of Civil War but I feel it's poorly written and he did write the thing so it's a knock against him) and for Boyle... I've never seen the 2007 film Sunshine, which I think I'd like but can't count, so I'd have to say it'd been twenty-three years since he'd made a really good film.

What would a Socialist Linux distros logo look like. I'm specifically thinking of the tagline ("get home from work in the United Soviet States of America in 2024 [...] see the logo for the default OS pop up it's a Linux distribution maintained by the Computing Centre of the Academy of Sciences")

Edit: Also no saying Debian or whatever.

11 days into January is surely not too late to rank all the movies I watched in cinema in 2025 (in ascending order)

10- Captain America: Brave New World. Dogshit movie. Its offensively bland with no themes or creativity whatsoever. Just a series of action scenes strung together by bad dialogue. 1/10. I can't think of a single thing I liked about it beyond some competent action scenes

9- Fantastic 4: it's mid. Its whatever. You can skip it. 5/10. It doesn't do much wrong, doesn't do much right, does a lot of things just fine. I'll never rewatch it.

8- Avatar: Fire and Ash. Did I enjoy this movie? Yes, I think it's hilarious. Its way, way too long and basically the exact same as the second Avatar movie. I enjoy forgetting all the plot and characters of avatar movies as soon as I walk out of them. 4/10, this movie doesn't do anything interesting but it does do a lot of very funny things.

7- Five Nights at Freddy's 2. Easily the funniest movie I watched this year. The first movie was acceptable, this one was so bad that it's good. I disliked every single writing decision, but the props and sets looked amazing. 3/10 Josh Hutcherson rips an animatronics head off.

6 - Thunderbolts. Now I'm in actually good movie territory. A marvel movie that I want to rewatch. On par with some of the better marvel movies, I'd say tying with Guardians of the Galaxy as somewhere in the top 5. I went in expecting nothing and was very very pleasantly surprised. 7/10, more of this please marvel

5 - Superman. Idk if it's as good as Thunderbolts, there's an argument to be made either way, but I think about it a lot more than Thunderbolts. A movie celebrating kindness and humanity felt very needed in 2025. 7/10

4 - Sinners. These next three are interchangeable tbh, I think they're all great. Sinners was a really good movie, but I don't think it clicked with me the way it did for others. 9/10, great but not top-tier imo.

3- One Battle After Another. This movie had such a strange, discordant tone that I really liked, swinging between stoner comedy, political thriller and social commentary. 9/10 the most pro-drink-driving movie I've ever seen.

2 - 28 Years Later. This movie really surprised me with how good it was. I thought the trailer looked good but zombie media does nothing for me. This actually does something interesting with the themes of zombies, in death, birth and war. Also I just love the depictions of a massive English wilderness. 9/10

1- Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc. This movie was made for me. The gap between my number 2 and 10 is about as big as the gap between 2 and 1. Its mind blowing. Its beyond beautiful. MAPPA did such an incredible job. A perfect adaptation of ky favourite manga. This might be my favorite movie of all time. 10/10, holy fuck I could say so much about why I love this movie. Perfect
