What? Is that title english? Am i confused?

ThinkPad ACPI driver to begin reporting damaged device detection

[-] ilinamorato@lemmy.world 25 points 3 months ago

I'm reading it as "A Linux driver for ThinkPads is ready to start reporting damaged devices on your system - starting with bad USB-C ports."

Headlinese is kind of ruining this one.

Fixing the typo (‘damage’ instead of ‘damaged’) would’ve gone a long way.

i think the the "s" on devices is also important to make it make sense

So, usb devices that are connected to your laptop, or the laptop's usb sockets themselves?

[-] ilinamorato@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

I assume the latter.

I frequently wonder whether English is Michael's first language, because he has some extremely strange but remarkably consistent linguistic quirks in his writing.
