First reaction that the kid is dealing drugs and needs to be investigated is pretty on brand for schools.

Trillions in taxes collected and we can't afford to feed kids at school. War machine go brrrrrrr tho!!

[-] themaninblack@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

And also we can apparently afford to arrest and imprison

[-] zout@fedia.io 1 points 4 months ago

More like trillions in debt acquired. Taxing is socialism.

And with Nutella, treating his peers well!

Palm oil and sugar. The breakfast of champions

Some will consider that an even more serious offense.

Why vis lunch so contentious in the US? Why do people have lunch debt?

We have poor people in other countries too. They don't get free lunches, but it doesn't seem to be such a contentious issue.

For 99% of the questions of "Why does it work like that in the US?" the answer is "racism". But this one has a nice overlap with the dominant US religion, which teaches its followers that being poor is a sin and poor people should be punished. Yes, even if you're a child.

Racism or religion doesn't really explain this? Or maybe it does but I'm missing the connection.

In Australia 90% of kids brought a sandwich to eat, from home. Some kids were given some money to order lunch from a cafeteria occasionally, but no one did that every day. We probably got to do that 5 or 6 times in 10 years.

If you didn't have money it was not possible to borrow or accrue a debt.

We don't let kids go hungry either, but there are other machanisms to resolve that.

Nutella? Nestle? On the gallows that piece of shit: it would be better if he distributed cocaine.

[-] JustJack23@slrpnk.net 1 points 4 months ago

I can't imagine this is not sarcasm.

To say buying nestle, even tho Nutella is not owned by nestle, is worse than leaving children to stay hungry is just....

[-] Lembot_0006@programming.dev 1 points 4 months ago

Isn't cocaine dumbs feeling of hunger?

[-] drolex@sopuli.xyz 1 points 4 months ago

Nutella is owned by Ferrero, not Nestlé. Still an environmental catastrophe but somewhat morally less bankrupt.

[-] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 months ago

Dude can feed their hungry friend whatever brand they wanted, virtue signalling feed no one.

[-] kamenlady@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

Cocaine dealers in my area are usually not accused of virtue signalling.

Of course. The child is stealing profits from the school.

The rules:

1. Your post must be an unironic presentation of a wholesome story, but one that overlooks systemic failures that made the story possible in the first place. In other words, we want posts that highlight "Yay, the problem is solved!", but ignore "Wait, why was this a problem in the first place?" at the same time.

2. Re-posts will be removed at mod discretion.
