Today OP woke up and chose violence
I, for one, am triggered.
I agree with list. I set my 98 year old grandma up on Kali as her first ever computer a month ago, and she's already hacked into the Department of Energy.
reported.
OP is inciting violence
I've said it before, but NixOS technically isn't bad for beginners (assuming they'll never operate another Linux distro - but let's be honest, after you learn Nix, why would you?).
Unlike other distros, you can't break Nix. You never need to reinstall. Sure, the advice you find online pertaining to FHS will confuse you, and you'll wonder why the fuck anyone would ever need to set up a "snapshot", but it won't matter.
You'll spend your days showing your friends and family your girthy flake, you'll tell them how you use home manager to create a shell script INSIDE your home.nix module so it's declarative - they wont understand, but happy that at least you're over your catboy phase.
Okay since this is ragebait and Manjaro is on the top tier fuck you π₯
More like shitposting, but someone is bound to take this to heart.
I love your energy and enthusiasm. GTFO.
Putting Pop in B tier has such a chaotic energy, I can't help but respect that. It works on so many levels.
That one surely will make things better
thank u am very proud of my hard work and many thinkage :3
Also Hannah Montana Linux is missing
it was present in the last one give me a break π₯±
Youre a monster
Arch belongs in good for beginners. It has an entire site dedicated to its manual
Slackware on S Tier.
Yep, this list is truth.
Anyone have names for all the distros in this list? I only know about half of them.
pungus
Apparently Debian ranks lower than the distros that are based on it.
What ranking are you using to arrive at this conclusion?
It's a shitpost...
Yeah, I belatedly realised that.
Other than Manjaro in S tier, I think the biggest giveaway for me was Nix, Gentoo, and Kali in "Good for Beginners"
Also: Debian, Arch, and Fedora in F tier? Those are some of the most common ones for serious linux users to settle on...
Can we stop confuse new users with this bullshit?
It's a joke. At least I hope so.
I know that, you knew that, but new users or linux-curious may get this wrong.
This is a meme community so it's all fine. (Hopefully)
If someone goes to a meme community for distro suggestions, maybe the Hannah Montana OS is for them.
I loved how, as a beginner, Gentoo used to update all of my packages during the day, while I was working, using my 16 cores 100%. That's what I call high-level multitasking.
Updating Gentoo kept my feet warm during the night.
I run Slackware, which also needs compilation for additional software.
Not for me, but for my cat.

Pop!_OS rises above C due to fancy window tiling but falls short of A because it has a stupid exclamation mark and unnecessary underscore in its name?
It feels like they want to be Panic! At the Disco

Hint: :q!

1. Follow the site-wide rules
- Instance-wide TOS: https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/
- Lemmy code of conduct: https://join-lemmy.org/docs/code_of_conduct.html
2. Be civil
- Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
- Do not harrass or attack users for any reason. This includes using blanket terms, like "every user of thing".
- Don't get baited into back-and-forth insults. We are not animals.
- Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
- Bigotry will not be tolerated.
3. Post Linux-related content
- Including Unix and BSD.
- Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of
sudoin Windows. - No porn, no politics, no trolling or ragebaiting.
- Don't come looking for advice, this is not the right community.
4. No recent reposts
- Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, <loves/tolerates/hates> systemd, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.
5. π¬π§ Language/ΡΠ·ΡΠΊ/Sprache
- This is primarily an English-speaking community. π¬π§π¦πΊπΊπΈ
- Comments written in other languages are allowed.
- The substance of a post should be comprehensible for people who only speak English.
- Titles and post bodies written in other languages will be allowed, but only as long as the above rule is observed.
6. (NEW!) Regarding public figures
We all have our opinions, and certain public figures can be divisive. Keep in mind that this is a community for memes and light-hearted fun, not for airing grievances or leveling accusations. - Keep discussions polite and free of disparagement.
- We are never in possession of all of the facts. Defamatory comments will not be tolerated.
- Discussions that get too heated will be locked and offending comments removed. Β
Please report posts and comments that break these rules!
Important: never execute code or follow advice that you don't understand or can't verify, especially here. The word of the day is credibility. This is a meme community -- even the most helpful comments might just be shitposts that can damage your system. Be aware, be smart, don't remove France.
