The global day of protest called by social movements, political parties and human rights organizations under the slogan #BringThemBack was deployed this Tuesday in more than 60 cities around the world.

One month after the US military aggression against Venezuela on January 3, the campaign has succeeded in uniting diverse voices that agree in denouncing the kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores as a violation of international law and a dangerous precedent for the sovereignty of nations. The international events, organized simultaneously and geographically distributed as follows:

America: Mass mobilizations in solidarity with Venezuela

United States: The Hands Off Venezuela movement led a protest outside the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York, where Venezuelan leaders are being held. Simultaneously, images of protest were projected in front of the UN headquarters .

Also in Colombia : Sit-ins and marches were held in Bogota, Medellin, Cali, Barranquilla, Cucuta and Cartagena , with a strong presence of social organizations in front of the US embassy.

Meanwhile, in Brazil , the Landless Rural Workers Movement ( MTS ) carried out a symbolic action of planting trees at the Cuban Embassy in Brasilia, as an expression of resistance against the blockade and aggressions.

“The offensive of capital and imperialism against the peoples who fight for their sovereignty does not silence us. On the contrary: it strengthens us in collective resistance,” expressed the Landless Rural Workers Movement in Brazil.

Mexico City : The Anti-Imperialist Front gathered in front of the U.S. Embassy in the capital, joined by activists and social groups who condemned the kidnapping and demanded respect for Venezuelan sovereignty. The demonstration expressed international solidarity with the Bolivarian nation, demanded respect for its sovereignty, and called for the immediate release of its leaders.

Uruguay and El Salvador: Solidarity groups and movements organized events in Montevideo and San Salvador , reaffirming their support for the Venezuelan people and taking to the streets in plazas, communities, and embassies to denounce the military action against Venezuela.and the murder of more than 100 citizens.

Following their abduction, the Venezuelan president and his wife, Flores, appeared before the U.S. Federal Court in the Southern District of New York, where they both pleaded not guilty.
