I believe I, and any Canadian, have every right to kill a person who represents a foreign (hostile)government, and tries to abduct me, or those I care about in my country. As they do not represent my government, I believe I’m free and clear.

No authority?

No process?

It is then an act of war, and we should respond accordingly with deadly force.

Just sayin.

This is one of the first times I’ve heard a Canadian threatening without saying sorry first.

Shit must be gettin’ tough

[-] Ash@piefed.social 15 points 2 months ago

We are polite…..until we aren’t. That’s how the Geneva Convention was created.

[-] usernamefactory@lemmy.ca 19 points 2 months ago

The most polite people I know are also the most willing to stand up against wrong doing when the time comes. They are they way they are because they value good prosocial behaviour, they're willing to sacrifice their own convenience for it, and they're willing to defend it.

[-] shittydwarf@sh.itjust.works 21 points 2 months ago
[-] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 months ago

Well. I mean, attempt armed arrest anyway and hope they don't start shooting. That's just polite.

[-] MyDogLovesMe@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

As they are not empowered by a Canadian government, they may not carry firearms unless they have an express act to do so. This may in fact be the case under a blanket act for border agents. We should review that…

[-] CarolusRex@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

I agree, foreign agents seeking to subvert Canadian sovereignty, their life is forfeit as long as they are operating on Canadian soil. They shouldn't have any legal protections either if their objective is to destabilize the country or attack our sovereignty.

You all need to be pressing your government to declare ICE a terrorist organization so that you can bar entry of any current or former member into the country.

[-] Alloi@lemmy.world 21 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

we have ICE offices in canada, in a bunch if our major cities, including ottawa. our capital.

[-] Drusas@fedia.io 22 points 2 months ago

Yeah. You might want to try to correct that.

[-] Alloi@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

there are none in my city, but if one does end up here. the plan is to burn it.

Canadians are chomping at the bit here to get a reason to go burn down the Whitehouse again.

[-] locotx@lemmy.world 25 points 2 months ago

It's "champing" at the bit.

[-] glibg@lemmy.ca 31 points 2 months ago

You're a true chompion of the English language.

[-] Gerblat@lemmy.world 25 points 2 months ago

I’ll drink to that

gulps down a mouthful of chompagne

[-] ryanpdg1@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 months ago

It's only chompagne if it comes from the chompagne region of Fronce

[-] NebulaNymph@programming.dev 15 points 2 months ago

True, otherwise it's just sporkling wine

[-] nwtreeoctopus@sh.itjust.works 13 points 2 months ago

They're generally both considered correct. "Chomping at the bit" has been in use for over 100 years.

[-] tempest@lemmy.ca 24 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Language, where you just have to be wrong long enough that your version becomes a dialect.

[-] nwtreeoctopus@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 months ago

It's literally the worst.

From a grizzled, old, Scottish WWII veteran: “Young Man, I’ll tell ya something I learned in the war, never, ever underestimate those Canadians! They are the toughest soldiers I encountered in the war.”

FTR: he also said he thought Germans were pansies, lol.

Dead now, but he was a tough SOB, himself (I mean, he WAS Scottish, so that’s a pedigree right there).

[-] LeFantome@programming.dev 3 points 2 months ago

Many of us Canadians still have some Scottish blood. And I bet it works as well as it ever did.

[-] Auli@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

Hah I wish. Society is to soft abdicated to screens and comfort. As long as the masses are entertained almost anything can happen.

[-] Washedupcynic@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago

I thought it was the brittish that did that during the war of 1812?

[-] L_N@piefed.ca 45 points 2 months ago

We must prepare for potential ICE agressive incursions into our territory.
We must be ruthless against fascism.

[-] Dionysus@leminal.space 20 points 2 months ago

Karl Popper had it right.

Do not tolerate intolerance and the behavior seen from the south.

Because if they did I'd have the right to kill them as an invading force. Fuck ice may they all die.

[-] avidamoeba@lemmy.ca 22 points 2 months ago

Aha, so baaically if you get snatched and dragged into the US for suspected violation of US law, the American legal system is okay with it and you have limited avenues to defend yourself. Canada would have to "convince" the US to let you go. In other words, exercise higher caution around ICE than our neighbours do.

[-] LadyMeow@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 2 months ago

There is no rule of law here. :( we have do much with to do :(

[-] rozodru@piefed.world 20 points 2 months ago

I'd love to see them try. And I think many Canadians are also chomping at the bit to "see America try". Lets see how far they get up here.

We need to start protesting to get ICE out of Canada

[-] WoodScientist@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago

Here's an idea. If ICE walks across the border, shoot them. They're a hostile foreign invader.

[-] F_State@midwest.social 15 points 2 months ago

"There will be a political and economic price if Canada followed member of Parliament Heather McPherson’s call for all ICE out of Canada"

There's no cost for standing up to bullies. On the contrary, the cost comes from backing down.

[-] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago

The question is: would a Canadian citizen witnessing an ICE kidnapping happen in Canada be allowed to use up to lethal force to stop it?

[-] Typotyper@sh.itjust.works 12 points 2 months ago

No. But if there's no body there's no murder.

[-] IndridCold@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 months ago

I don't care. I'm not an American gimp. I'll help a person being kidnapped or harassed in Canada. If it's a US MAGA Nazi fuck, they'll get a mother fucking double-double. I'll take the chance.

Fuck ICE.

[-] TomatoPotato69@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

It would be animal abuse at worst. So just make sure it's fast, clean, and humane. ;)

[-] Threeskittiesinatrenchcoat@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Fact of the matter is if ICE wanted to round up Canadians, most local police, at least in Alberta, would be helping to support ICE operations while making a canned statement on TV about the legality of their actions.

[-] KindnessIsPunk@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 months ago

Give me an excuse. Please.

[-] canuck666777@piefed.ca 6 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Folks, unlock your gun cabinets. These MF-ers as much as make noise on our soil, Luigi them all!

[-] rekabis@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

Learn how to snipe at distance. We cannot beat them with force, but we can bleed them dry from a million separate cuts.

The only good fascist is a dead fascist.
