"No sir, I'm off the clock now, Unless you're paying overtime I'll see you tomorrow"
Was at work one day. My shift had just ended and I was packing up my stuff when my boss (who operated out of a different location) walked through the door and said "hey! What's going on? What are you doing?". I said "I'm leaving", picked up my backpack and left.
Sorry, already logged out of everything.
The worst is when you’re still at work half an hour later than normal, and someone walking by sees you and thinks it’s a good opener to chat. “Oh wow you’re still here, huh? It’s usually just me etc etc.” I’ve had people stop to chat for 45 minutes and I’m just thinking “Do you think I’m still here because I don’t want to be at home?!”
They probably do think that because working late is a common excuse for people who don't want to be at home.
Perhaps they're trying to welcome you to workaholism.
There's at least one in every office.
