Not sure if this has made international news, there were protests around Australia because our government invited the sick genocidal fuck Isaac Herzog here at the behest of the zionist lobby. I was at the Sydney one (where Herzog is currently) and it basically turned into a cop riot.

Within minutes of the rally’s official start time, the cops blocked all entrances to the square with railings and cordons of pigs - this rally was in a totally legal place to assemble.

Pig drone operators on a rooftop overlooking the crowd. There were also cop snipers in camo and masked up on the rooftops.

The usual story, peaceful protest, tens of thousands, kops kettle people, refuse to let them march, then start fucking on people. I know people who broke bones, almost everyone I know including myself got pepper sprayed, the fascist blackshirts went absolute hog wild (pun intended). There’s footage of elderly people being beaten, completely restrained protesters face down on the ground being punched in the head and kidneys dozens of times.

This is the crowd, which had spilled onto the surrounding streets and tram line due to thousands being stopped from entering the square, trying to leave the area. About 20 metres ahead of this was the pig cordon, stopping people from going anywhere.

Horses and foothogs charged the crowd many times, spraying and spraying their chemical weapons. 27 people were arrested, including a friend of mine, dozens at least must be injured. There was a young woman who was pepper sprayed and went into a seizure. I was lucky and only got it on my skin which burned for six hours. A comrade of mine copped it full in the face, he was blinded and burning long afterwards.

The crowd was full of young and old, which didn’t hinder the cop riot. As you can see behind the gentleman with the pram (who is attempting to make his way back away from the line of cops fucking up the frontline), there is an older man covering his mouth as pepper spray had already been deployed on protestors at the front a few metres away.

Even after the crowd fled to adjacent streets, clearly attempting to disperse, cops pursued them hundreds of metres and pepper sprayed and tackled them. I heard of tear gas cans being deployed in one of these side streets, but I didn’t see it with my own eyes or on any social media. The cops also had an LRAD they threatened to deploy, and had choppers flying overhead for hours before and after the rally.

Meanwhile, 5 minutes down the road, as the protestors were being brutalised by jackbooted rabid thugs, the state premier (like a governor) was wining and dining with a couple of thousand Zionists at an event put on for their distinguished guest. He has since come out this morning, alongside the police commissioner, and done classic DARVO gaslighting bullshit, blaming the protesters, “the cops were in danger”, “they tried their best to control the situation, but the crowd just wouldn’t listen” smol bean fucking routine, etc etc.

I’ll come back and edit more of my personal pics and links to stuff I see online for international comrades to see and share. Not much happens here in Australia and we don’t make the news much, but I want people to know hundreds of thousands of people get out in the streets here for Palestine, tens of thousands confronted the armed thugs of the state last night, and there’s another snap protest tonight in response to this brutality.

If by chance any Palestinians read this, we are with you. Free Palestine, fuck the pigs and death to Israel red-fist

smug-explain Mother, today I defended modern Hitler's feelings from those uppity plebs by threatening death and life imprisonment upon them.

Thanks for going and reporting from the ground. You rock.

This is a common Zionazi tactic.

On 15 August 1929, Tisha B'Av, the Revisionist youth leader Jeremiah Halpern and three hundred Revisionist youths from the Battalion of the Defenders of the Language and Betar marched to the Western Wall proclaiming "The Wall is ours". The protesters raised the Zionist flag and sang the Hatikvah.[13] The demonstration took place in the Muslim Maghribi district in front of the house of the Mufti.

Two days later, in raised tensions caused by a 2000-strong Muslim counter-demonstration after Friday prayers the day before, a Jewish youth, Avraham Mizrahi, was killed and an Arab youth picked at random was stabbed in retaliation.[14] Subsequently, the violence escalated into the 1929 Palestine riots.

And it's literally how the Second Intifada started:

An uptick in violent incidents started in September 2000, after Israeli politician Ariel Sharon made a provocative visit to the Temple Mount;[15][14] the visit itself was peaceful, but, as anticipated, sparked protests and riots that Israeli police put down with rubber bullets, live ammunition, and tear gas.[16] Israeli security responded with extreme violence, killing over 100 Palestinian protesters within the first few weeks.[citation needed] Within the first few days of the uprising, the Israeli military fired one million rounds of ammunition.[17]

Watched the vid of the coppers punching the 50 y.o office worker guy in the kidneys and abc censored the (presumed) expletives as if swear words would offend our sensibilities. Power to you and the protesters

I know it might count for little but when I share this footage with my fellow Burgerlanders it lights fuses, it connects dots, it adds proof to our rhetoric about the shared nature of our struggle. For whatever reason middle class whites who are one foot in the ACAB door think cops in Europe or the rest of the Anglosphere aren’t frothingfash.

Watch them claim this was an anti-Jew pogrom as an excuse to round up innocent people

I’ll start editing this comment with links to other media.

Good coverage - https://michaelwest.com.au/this-was-planned-and-chris-minns-owns-it/

Live thread for a mix of protest footage and gaslighting from the government defending their actions - https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-02-10/federal-politics-estimates-ley-albanese-taylor/106323538

I’m loathe to link to reddit, but r/sydney has actually been incredibly based around this whole thing and has some spectacular footage - https://www.reddit.com/r/sydney/

I’d also recommend people try to scope out some australian based palestine movement social media stuff on isntagram or whatever, there is so much crazy footage - and that doesn’t even capture 10% of the violence the cops enacted.

From r/syd

In February of 1917 the Bolsheviks had 8000 members. In October they had up to 400,000.

Events like this can spur massive change. The Greens need to push their messaging hard, and the people need to do so as well.

Bit of whiplash but fuck if it didn't open strong

[-] Aradino@hexbear.net 9 points 2 days ago

To be fair that is something the greens need to do. Electoralism won't save us but a labour gov with greens opposition would improve lives considerably

And also prove Lenin right(again)

[-] KuroXppi@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago

I was shocked to read that Chris Minns is a labor politician, i thought he was LNP. I can't keep up with NSW. There was a lot of electoralism going on in the threads a la 'teach the bastards a lesson at the ballot box' (i.e. vote for the opposition) and minimal attention given to Greens let alone other minor parties (Salt, animal liberation, reason party)

That being said, the r/melb post for the protest yesterday was instalocked and the only person discussing it in their daily thread is already grovelling to the mods in anticipation of comment removal/ban so r/syd definitely gets credit where it's due. Here's that comment:

Sorry guys, Ill apologise now, then after the main bulk of this comment as this relates to yesterdays events in sydney and such.

It kind of scares me to know that our government has the complete inability to "read the room"... and this goes far back from when we had news about ISIS brides coming back from whatever country they were coming from... to now a current world leader coming to Australia despite the horrors that occurred in that region created by the hands of that world leader.

Those protests? they were for the most part peaceful, if the police never arrested anyone, the protest would have dispersed and all would have returned to normal. I don't know why there was an escalation in arrests, assaults and outright disrespectful and disgusting behavior from the people who are meant to uphold the law and protect us. If there were windows shattered and buildings set on fire, cars flipped over, sure, then that's fine, let the police do their job and arrest people, but there was nothing like that.

There have been dozens of incidences of people being arrested over talking against "that country in that region" and that alone concerns me... I just don't feel like we live in a world that's as safe as it used to be, right? like things have turned up to 11 in recent years and that concerns me.

Sorry, Sorry, I am so sorry for even mentioning this, if the Mods want to remove this comment because it breaks the rules, I would be okay with that. I agree with any terms and conditions and if I get told by the mods in a DM/Chat not to mention it again, I will absolutely comply.

Sorry!

Now to forget about reddit-logo again and not visit it for another year

Honestly, this much support for the greens in a sub like r/sydney is a pretty radical change from a couple of years ago. It’s filled with inner suburb yuppie types who usually don’t care as long as their commuter train runs on time (not that they do lol).

[-] KuroXppi@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago

Interesting thanks, I didn't have that longer-term context for the shifting sentiment of the sub. Hopefully the mods don't clamp down as hard as they have with the other city subs cos I can see how it is raficalising not just in and of itself, but also in contrast with other capital cities. Syd has been a lightning rod

Minns and NSW Labor got minority government under his Yankee inspired "lets appeal to the right wing for more voters!" strategy. Except this time it actually worked because the LNP was co-incidentally going through scandal after scandal, sex scandals and corruption and bribery scandals and fucking up funding for firefighters and allowing the koala to become an endangered species on their watch and all the unions were against the LNP too.

So, what has the big tent NSW Labor achieved? Went to increase pay for public school teachers, cool. LNP didn't like that, got negotiated down to 3% raise (which I believe is below the cost of living increase) before they passed it. Cozying up to zios, even before Bondi. Made it harder for landlords to reject pets on a rental application. Neat, I guess.

The best thing his government has done for NSW is ending no-grounds evictions.

State labor gets so many free wins sometimes, can say similar with Jacinta in Vic with lnp stepping on their own dick and backstabbing one another so often even the anti-dan Andrews crowd can't stomach voting for them

~~Ok I guess I lied, hexbear isn’t letting me upload any more photos for some reason or is borked - if people are interested I could try and host them somewhere (anyone know a good place for that?).~~ nevermind refreshing the page worked i am not good with computer. Ok that is not working again, whatever, I’ll upload if I can. If people would like me to host the photos and videos I have somewhere I will try, I’m currently prepping for the rally tonight so might not be able to rn.

Mounted pigs and foothogs prepare to advance on the crowd (this is on a footpath btw, not blocking any road or tram line).

We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
