Voting makes you think your opinion matters while you vote, but it actually doesn't matter. Voting makes you think you can change something, but it doesn't change anything. Voting makes you think you should wait for a lot of time to change something in elections, while you can strike right away and shouldn't wait for elections. Voting makes you think you are living in a free democratic country, but it is actually a monarchy and dictatorship.

Do you think the votes are really 49-51% randomly? Or do you ever think it might be intentional. They have all the media, all the power, they can make you think whatever they want.
What they do is, give you two shitty options, make you vote for them 49-51% and do whatever they want and make you fight each other while they are doing the things that you hate.
People are fighting like "if you hadn't voted for this guy, that wouldn't have happened" but it would have happened again, because the other side is also working for the same guys.

Do not vote. Do not wait for elections. Go on strike right away. Stop following media, stop following politics, if your life sucks nobody will change it but you.

The poor has no friends other than the poor. Do not become enemy to your poor/worker friend, even if they support the other political party, even if they are minority that you dont like.

Edit: I really do not understand. I told people we can elect a monkey if we had media, and they upvoted it: https://lemmy.world/post/43003985 While, when I tell people voting doesnt work and we should stop doing it, it is downvoted. This doesnt make sense. Media can make people elect a monkey, but we should still go vote??

your in luck. its already happening. about 20mil eligible voters did not vote in the close election between kamala and trump. have the country you (did not) voted for.

[-] sahin@lemmy.world -3 points 2 weeks ago

So what? What changed? Nothing! They already knew who would win, they already planned for the other case. What would happen when Kamala wins? Free home? No! Free food? No! Would they not enter Venezuela? Of course they would! You think you are smarter than them, but they already bought all your choices

[-] HubertManne@piefed.social 2 points 2 weeks ago

nope. the invasion of venezuela and us cities would not have happened. there would be limits on aid to israel and continuance of the aid we were giving palestine before and diplomatic curbs like before rather than the green light to take it. also we would not be fighting economically with the world and thretening all sorts of other invasions.

You still think Kamala and Trump are in different teams. You still think Trump decides what America does. Let me tell you what would happen if Kamala wins: they would do the same things, people would say "if Trump won, this wouldn't happen" and you would still fight people online, rather than planning a strike while they do whatever they want with the power.

as @sahin@lemmy.world said you are delusional. A kamala administration would be more of the same of the biden administration with maybe her trying to push for something for her to be known for. This is the most extreme version of all the same I have ever heard and im sorta glad to have seen it because it solidifies for me how irrational it is to take something like parties and politics and, because yeah, you have commonalities in like what a generic politician is like, obviously the different people and groups act differently. I mean this is the most significantly different that I know of for the two major parties.

Holy shit you are delusional or perhaps just so frustrated that your cognitive ability has evaporated.

You should probably take a break.

[-] sahin@lemmy.world -1 points 1 week ago

Okay, see you in the next elections while you cry you lost, thinking people were stupid but the problem is media is too powerful. Even if you win in the elections, you will still cry, dont worry. Nobody in politics is trying to improve your life.

It's a sad state of affairs

Seek help

[-] sahin@lemmy.world -1 points 1 week ago

I dont need help, but you need. I still dont understand how you think your vote matters.
It is so easy to elect anyone you want:
Check survey results Increase propaganda
Lie about the other candidate Lobby and bribe
Use social media, TV, newspapers to increase popularity of your candidate
Tell the other candidate is t.rrorist, scare people, increase division within community, make people fight each other.
Check survey results again, and make sure you win by a little more votes, so that people will fight each other.
Tell people every vote matters, make them think voting works.
Give money to popular people in social media to tell people vote for you.
It is so easy.

Give me 100B dollars, I can elect whoever/whatever one wants, while you still think your vote matters.

"Do not vote. Do not wait for elections. Go on strike right away. Stop following media, stop following politics"

Most people in the U.S. would end up homeless pretty quick if they followed this advice.

You'd have like 5,000 people a day on strike, and they'd all be fired and replaced and no one would know about it because they didn't follow media or hear anyone talking about politics supporting it.

Kind of works out to, kill yourself and possibly your family, and hope no one knows about it

[-] sahin@lemmy.world -3 points 2 weeks ago

It is impossible for most people to be homeless. Will the houses stay empty? Will the people look at their friends and allow them to stay in the streets?
They'd be replaced, which changes nothing then.
Do not do anything individually of course, but waiting for elections to change something doesnt work. They are just delaying everything until the next elections.

If you don't think your vote matters...don't vote. But stop trying to convince other people not to. More people need to get involved in how the government is run...not less.

Politically illiterate people like yourself are the biggest reason why Trump is currently in power. Americans are generally poorly educated, but to actively try and spread your stupidity to others is not just ignorant...it's evil.

[-] sahin@lemmy.world -1 points 2 weeks ago

You are the reason Trump is in power, because you believe in democracy and they give you two shitty options and you think this makes sense. You are illiterate. You think this stupid way of choosing a leader is a good way lol

Have you heard about the German Democratic Republic? Eastern Germany from 1949 to 1990.

They had a one party system, completely with votes and all. After every election, they would announce the results as something like 98% or 99% for the one party and their leader.

The 98% were a lie, and everybody knew it. But that didn't mean that the elections were all fake. Only the resulting numbers were made up.

People actually went and voted, because everybody was watched, and they would have some serious disadvantages in life if they didn't vote for the party.

In order to express their protest, many people returned the blank ballots into the ballot boxes.

Welcome to the Unpopular Opinion community!

How voting works:

Vote the opposite of the norm.

If you agree that the opinion is unpopular give it an arrow up. If it's something that's widely accepted, give it an arrow down.

Guidelines:

Tag your post, if possible (not required)

  • If your post is a "General" unpopular opinion, start the subject with [GENERAL].
  • If it is a Lemmy-specific unpopular opinion, start it with [LEMMY].

Rules:

1. NO POLITICS

Politics is everywhere. Let's make this about [general] and [lemmy] - specific topics, and keep politics out of it.

2. Be civil.

Disagreements happen, but that doesn’t provide the right to personally attack others. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Please also refrain from gatekeeping others' opinions.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Shitposts and memes are allowed but...

Only until they prove to be a problem. They can and will be removed at moderator discretion.

5. No trolling.

This shouldn't need an explanation. If your post or comment is made just to get a rise with no real value, it will be removed. You do this too often, you will get a vacation to touch grass, away from this community for 1 or more days. Repeat offenses will result in a perma-ban.

6. Defend your opinion

This is a bit of a mix of rules 4 and 5 to help foster higher quality posts. You are expected to defend your unpopular opinion in the post body. We don't expect a whole manifesto (please, no manifestos), but you should at least provide some details as to why you hold the position you do.

Instance-wide rules always apply. https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/
