I think this pressure and action is unfortunately necessary.
I'll need help creating a new origami community, I have no idea how but more importantly, what implies.
I’m happy to help! I don’t know much about origami but I do like splitting from feddit.org and can run a community.
If you would like I can setup the community and set you as a mod? If not all good!
Thanks, I was planning to look into it this evening. I saw a button somewhere. What I'm more worried about is running it, what it entails, rules, what can and cannot do. That's where I feel I'll need more help.
I guess I'll learn by doing.
It's much easier than it seems to run a community. If you're unsure of specific rules the basics are don't do anything that violates instance rules and stay on topic. You can add others you think might be necessary like not posting too much or too often, or keeping specific questions in a Q&A thread. That sort of thing.
You make your own rules (so long as they fit within the instances). What it entails on Lemmy is basically nothing, as very few people ever causes issues needing moderation. You might get a spammer or griefer so you can delete their posts or ban them.
Basically you can set the theme of the community through rules and vibes. The real hard part is content, it takes months of solo posting to get people to start contributing once they see and join an active community.
