Shit my bad it was the USS Abraham Lincoln Iran claimed to have hit which is even funnier. So potentially two carriers diminished or deterred. And the Nimitz was due for decommissioned so probably even more vulnerable.
So, if it was supposed to be decommissioned that likely means it has reduced crew, as the detailers would have started moving them on (the schedules for this are determined years in advance). Also, when a crew knows they’re decommissioning, they get real shitty on maintenance because who cares.
