Will Lewis bring the NDP back from the wilderness? Can he win seats?

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 3 points 8 hours ago

We'll see, but I'd argue that the focus shouldn't be on winning seats. At least not in the short term. If he's really serious then he should start building a movement by educating people, and building a common vision people can buy into for the long haul. If NDP can embrace socialism, and convince people that they're aiming to effect systemic change that would shift the dynamic from trying to win this or that particular election with people rallying around a long term vision.

The source is the top sponsor of one of the more notable Alberta Separatist movement group.

If people want to upvote things based on titles, the article content is basically mocking how stupid you are.

Socialists don’t understand basics. So if New York can elect Mamdami, one should never assume Canadians are too intelligent to come back to the decimated NDP left behind by Mr. Singh, and give it a voice Mr. Carney can’t ignore and perversely – from their point of view – do the Conservatives a bit of good, too.

Here's another gem from the same author:

Stephen Harper’s former speechwriter from 2009 to 2015, Hannaford started on his topic of “God has given us the answers to the problems that we have.”

He claimed one “biblical truth” is a gender binary.

Hannaford claimed teachers are “ordered” to teach sex-ed curriculum that “50 years ago, if they would have said it in the classroom, would put them in jail.” He did not provide any details.

I don't really care about the spin from the author. I think what Lewis proposes is very sensible, and nationalizing critical industries such as food and energy production would be the right thing to do. If you have a better article discussing this, I'll be happy to update the post to it.
