Human stupidity.

Empty chairs. Stare at an empty chair late at night, and I just get the sense that someone is sitting in it looking back at me.

Sorry about that. Kinda hard not to stare when you're staring at me.

Torture. Even in completely fictional stories it shakes me to my core.

When someone refers to me by name - without me having given them my name.

RCS messages, now include your first+last name as well as your google profile photo when you text a new number.

Had an acquaintance I only knew by her first name message me from a new number after getting a new phone; now I have her full name and a recent photo of her, despite her never giving me that info. Creepy, imo.

literally gave you that info by texting you

[-] Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 days ago

She never provided me with her last name, or a photo. Google decided to add that information on her behalf, without her knowledge; as the settings that dictate that behavior default to 'show name and picture to people you message'.

Previously, a recipient would receive the number you're sending from, the message you typed out, and the time it was sent. That's it. If you wanted to include more info, you could; but that's your decision, not Googles.

I'm so fucking sick of corporations 'adding new features', where they default to collecting your information and sending it to whoever they desire, then going 'oh, well you could have turned that off' as If I'm suppose to be go through every setting on every device twelve fucking times a day just to figure out and turn off whatever new data harvesting garbage they've added this time around.

Generational abuse. I know my neighbors are doing it to their kids and years on now, all I can do is regularly show those kids through interactions with them and my kids that it doesn't have to be like that. We're not talking physical abuse. If it were, I woulda dealt with that bullshit long ago. We're talking; you gotta play this sport, you gotta get these grades, you gotta worship this religion, you gotta do whatever tf we say and stand where we stand, etc etc. The best part, the primary thing the adults prattle on about is how much they hate their controlling parents and how much their kids don't listen. It is the definition of insanity and it feels insurmountable and horrifying.

Plastic bags blowing around in the backs of pickup trucks, traveling at high speed down the highway.

WHY DON'T THEY BLOW AWAY‽

It's like the universe is trying to tell us something profound about our existence.

Watch the mythbusters episode about saving gas by tailgating semi trucks

If you're close enough, you get a little boost to fuel efficiency becsuse your vehicle doesn't have to cut through as much wind resistance due to the bubble created in the back of the truck.

Tho I think the episode about pick-up truck beds aerodynamics is more relevant to this conversation. In that, they discovered that the shape and size of the cab in relation to the bed creates a bubble of air pressure that passes over the bed as if it had a roof, causing very little disturbance inside the bed itself.

I wonder wat the fatality rate is tho, like if they get too close in the pursuit of all these $aving$

confirmed . negative air pressure sucks things in behind the truck.

I can spin around seemingly forever without getting dizzy.

Example: When my kids were little I would pick them up and spin them around (which they loved), place them down, and they'd stumble about, dizzy. It was all fun and games until I did this at a birthday party as the host walked up and offered me a plate of something (hot dog? Memory bad). I let the kid go, they fell down in the grass, "so dizzy! Hahaha!" And I just turned and accepted the plate, "thanks!"

"Aren't you dizzy?"

Me: "No. Why?"

She looked at me like I had two heads.
