Suggests alarming lack of stability.

my first thought would be "is this person really into kayaking or something?

This makes the most sense, as I only use a zip-loc system when spending time on the water. Otherwise my cards and money just sit in my back pocket, held only by my forceful glutes and a protective layer of receipts I may need later. Wallets became obsolete after the invention of pockets.

The client across the desk pulls out a tweezer and begins peeling Benjamins from the stack in the paper bag, using the utmost care not to touch them with his hands.

I press the alarm beneath the desk.

personally I just use a rubber band to hold my cash to the grip of my glock, which is then placed loose in my pocket along with another magazine

Gets your point across when you go to leave a tip, I guess

Whatever works. I've known lots of people over the years who make wallets out of duct tape. Durable as hell, lasts forever, gets the job done.

I have a friend with a wallet made of painted A4 paper. From day 1 I said it was not gonna last, but it's been some 5 years and it still looks much better than my old leather one. Never doubt the power of cheap DIY.

I made a paper wallet on a lark, and I ended up preferring it to a leather one. It's just so thin and simple.

In this cases, quote the question and just reply with yes balloon

My wife does this and she's a Lib. So I'm married to a crazy psychopath. That tracks.

[-] Maoo@hexbear.net 12 points 1 year ago

I think it'll break after a few weeks so probably not the best wallet.

Probably worth spending $1 at a thrift store instead!

[-] AnarchoCummunist@hexbear.net 9 points 1 year ago

My wife's ziplock money bag has lasted since before COVID. I keep yelling at her about using cash, to but she's stubborn. She keeps coins in there too, so it's not just bills.

That is very impressive!

best wallet I ever had was 15c at a garage sale. I second this wearing out fast, ziploc bags arent abrasion resistant

[-] MerryChristmas@hexbear.net 11 points 1 year ago

It's definitely a red flag, but it's the kind that someone waves in front of me to get my attention. I like it.

this would fall out of your pocket so easily and you wouldn't even notice it

buy a 3 dollar cardholder from aliexpress instead and use hair ties to hold your cash against the outside (what I do)

I used to do this surfing so I didn't have to carry a wallet while out.

[-] aFairlyLargeCat@hexbear.net 9 points 1 year ago

I’ve been using the same wallet for at least a decade or two now - it’s quite literally made out of some tarp and duct tape.

Ziploc bags are annoying

[-] oscardejarjayes@hexbear.net 8 points 1 year ago

Have you considered putting the bag in a purse? Some have metal reinforced straps, so you don't have to worry about a cut and grab. Harder to lose than a baggy and can fit a lot more stuff.

[-] SpiderFarmer@hexbear.net 8 points 1 year ago

I would do this when running during rainstorms.

I did this all the time as a kid and the amount of money my parents spent replacing duct tape probably surpassed the cost of an actual wallet.

Good for those water-foam concerts/festivals.

[-] CA0311@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago

last week i left a few hundred dollars that someone had given me on a windowsill and it got absolutely soaked with rain, but it was plastic canadian bills so it was fine. if ur money is paper this is a good solution to that problem.

[-] lemming934@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 1 year ago

American money is made of cloth not paper. It definitely weakens when wet, but doesn't disintegrate.

[-] cmg@infosec.pub 7 points 1 year ago

Cyclist?

You can shove a plastic bag into your jersey and your cash/cards won’t get sweaty. ID and snack cash.

I've just used the same wallet for like 20 years.
