I'm still playing with it, but I recently discovered Website Monitor from the F-Droid store. It might be useful here?
You are not SOL, I have learnt python just for this and every new petition will be posted here some time in the morning of any new petition created over the last day. Not entirely sure how cron.daily works, I know how crontab works but cron.daily is a mystery to me yet.
When I say I learnt I mean I looked up guides and had Claude check my work, but AI is horrible at writing code.
I would suggest write a script or have an AI write you a script to send you emails about new petitions.
I may have to look into this, I enjoy seeing petitions and trying to decide if I support them or not, or if the representative asking for signatures can go to hell!
If you do write one, have it post on Lemmy. This is the kind of automated feed I'd like to see here.
It’s Alive
I am not to terribly familiar with python but after several hours of trial and error I got the script! I even created a new account and told admin that is what it is for, and they let me open the account.
I wrote the script and had Claude just check it over for me every time I came into an error. I think I learnt more python from Claude’s F ups on what I asked for help with than Claude actually helping.
I hate languages that require exact spaces, growing up I taught myself html and I was happy with not needing to know spaces and I could understand everything. Wish I also taught myself some more useful languages but here we are.
I got into some trouble with posts being automated here because for whatever reason the script I was using was posting stuff three four times, but I will see what I can do.
The Federal Canadian government still uses "X" (formerly twitter) and Facebook for communications. I hope it's not one of those. Good luck! If you find out, let the rest of us know.
New petitions should be posted every morning by my python bot. Here is hoping at least.
It looks like ourcommons.ca has an RSS feed.
*edit: looks like the RSS feed is bogus or at least I could not find it, easily.
