I'm still in my burnout era, exhausted and feeling like shit arm-R

It do be like that sometimes, it's not possible to make progress every week forever. Sometimes your body will straight up tell you that it's time to chill the fuck out and play some Slay the Spire joker-gaming

Went to the gym three days in a row, and I'm looking forward to running 5km every day. I achieved a new PB of 35:41 minutes, beating my previous PB by almost a minute. I'm aiming for that 30 minute mark.

I’m benching 205 for reps now, which is good. I suck at cutting, but at least the lifts are going up. Think some more cardio can help offset my appetite. Speaking of food, my pizza sauce is getting much better and is even Italian grandmother approved! mario-dance luigi-dance

I have a phone screening for a job tomorrow and my summer gig already suggested an extension for the fall. I’ll take the latter if I must, but if the former says yes, it’s an actual salaried position with benefits. It’s GG’s for my days as reserve army of labor. Regardless, even in my worst case scenario there is a good chance I will have at least my late 20s to be a normal 20-something and I have a hell load of lost time to make up for.

I also have a minimum wage position right now so I have an income and I’m technically not unemployed anymore.

Im not sure if that counts but I want to read more. Im currently on book 7 this year. I only read 6 books in total last year so you as you can see the line goes up.

Im not reading anything fancy or high art. Just working my way through Warhammer 40.000 novels. with a focus on Xeno and Chaos books. for the most part.

Reading more is a great goal, it definitely counts! My goal is to read at least 20 minutes daily.

Do you have a Goodreads account? I think that's a fun way to keep up the reading habit.

Btw, the Guys podcast did a fun episode on Warhammer 40k guys.

Self Improvement

505 readers
1 users here now

A community which focusses on improving yourself. This can be in many different ways - from improving physical health or appearance, to improving mental health, creating better habits, overcoming addictions, etc.

While material circumstances beyond our control do govern much of our daily lives, people do have agency and choices to make, whether that is as "simple" as disciplining yourself to not doomscroll, to as complex as recreating yourself to have many different hobbies and habits.

This is not a place where all we do is talk about improving "productivity" (in a workplace context) and similar terms and harmful lifestyles like "grindset". Self-improvement here is intended to make you a generally better and happier person, as well as a better communist, and any other roles you may have in your life.

Rules and guidelines:

  1. Posts should be about self-improvement. This is obviously a wide category, and can range from advice, to finding resources, to self-posts about needing to improve in a certain area, or how you have improved, and many other things.

  1. Use content warnings when discussing difficult subjects.

  1. Do not make medical decisions solely because of a discussion you have had with any person here (e.g. whether to take or not take medications; diagnoses; etc.) as we do not vet people. All medical problems should be discussed with a real-life medical professional.

  1. Do not post harmful advice here. If this is seen, then please report it and we shall remove it. If you are unsure about whether it's precisely harmful advice or not but feel uneasy about it, please report it anyway.

  1. Do not insult other users and their lifestyles or their habits (unless they ask, I suppose). This is a place for self-improvement. Critique and discussion about a course of action is encouraged over shit-flinging. Don't talk down to people.
