Personally I use public trackers the most and only recently private trackers for stuff in my native language.

I did setup i2p a few days ago and currently have only downloaded around ~1GB. Most of my bandwith (143 GB in / 135.5 GB out) has come from just having it in the background 24/7.

The advantages of usenet don't really apply to me (longer retention, faster speeds, no vpn)

Streaming i find useful for checking if something is worth downloading

Made the poll with a VPN, didn't know this was an issue.

Should work now

Why's it asking for my address and social security number 🤔

4PB jellyfin server (NOT mine lol)

 Private Trackers

[-] Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 1 year ago

You wanna rival Netflix or something?!

[-] cmysmiaczxotoy@lemm.ee 9 points 1 year ago

It is not mine but it rivals all streaming services combined 40 fold in available content

[-] kniescherz@feddit.de 6 points 1 year ago

Its amazing once you start to realize how little you can watch even when you are subbed to all streaming services. In the years I used Netflix and co my consumption changed to 'I watch whats available'. Once I pirated again and joined a similar Plex server with a catalogue which contains pretty much every movie and tv show ever made, even international ones, it changed to 'What weird shit I really want to watch today'.

Even if would sub to every streaming service available to me (which would probably cost 100€ per month) I could only see 20% of the movies I have watched.

[-] Garry@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Excuse me wtf, how much did you spend on all that

[-] cmysmiaczxotoy@lemm.ee 10 points 1 year ago

Noooo, not mine lol

[-] Player2@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 year ago

A true archivist. I applaud you

[-] cmysmiaczxotoy@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

I wish I had 4PB. It is not my server

I love crimes. But I need to hear about your crimes to rev me up! Go!

[-] slushiedrinker@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 year ago

I once shoplifted a spandex shirt that accentuated my hot body that I used to get into all the hot clubs for a month without washing it in the 1990s.

[-] ultratiem@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 year ago

This is a crime on so many levels 🚨

[-] slushiedrinker@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago

So bad I admit. Put me in jail in my hot spandex, accentuating my young, slim, body and do me like all those other guys did me.

[-] SkabySkalywag@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

I can neither confirm nor deny....

I mostly stick to traditional open ocean piracy, though I do occasionally slip into the odd bay, lagoon, or estuary.

[-] CCL@links.hackliberty.org 6 points 1 year ago

I use IPFS & I2p but not for piracy.

[-] Krauerking@lemy.lol 6 points 1 year ago

Yeah I'm basically back to 2012 with public torrents and ripping from streaming websites I don't trust very well. And downloading to an external hard drive that very well might die on me and ruin my day eventually.

But now I have a jellyfin server to watch it on, so I got that going for me, which is nice.

[-] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 5 points 1 year ago

I just use public trackers and streaming, don't even know what half of these are, lol

[-] max2078@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 year ago

Private trackers and Usenet, great combo.

[-] people_are_cute@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 1 year ago

How the hell are there more Private Tracker users than DDL users

[-] SmokeFree@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

usenet IS direct downloads. Unless DDL you mean like mega, mediafire, dropbox, gdrive, pxieldrain, rapidgator, debrid etc etc.

[-] iHUNTcriminals@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

That guy in the alley

[-] Dumbkid@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 year ago

One barely private tracker, then usenet, and real-debrid

[-] DarkThoughts@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

Mostly just streaming, maybe some direct downloads i like paywalled / premium OC. I couldn't really afford either anyway so I can't say I feel too bad about it. If VoD providers wouldn't have turned out to be so garbage I might've gotten one of them, but not if that means I can't watch everything anyway. Like what's the point? I'm not gonna subscribe to everyone or hop around services. Exclusive content kinda killed them in my eyes.

[-] snooggums@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Maritime for the most part.

[-] Chewy7324@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 year ago

From how many people talk about real-debrid I would've thought it'd see more usage. But I also prefer having media stored by me instead of streaming. With Jellyfin it's easier to access with multiple devices.

6 people using XDCC haha

Same private trackers I used for a decade now (since 30th November 2009), plus some newer ones when some (tv) shut down

Autobrr, sonar, radarr, Jackett, jellyfin

[-] killeronthecorner@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I'd love to join a private tracker but I literally have no idea where to start.

[-] null@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 year ago

Same -- happy to seed as needed, but no idea how to find a good, general private tracker for shows and movies

[-] crimsdings@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Digitalcore is currently open (.club) scenetime was open aswell recently

They are fine for the beginning. morethentv for tv, nebulance for tv

Private-hd for tv and movies in .. hd

Torrent leech for everything scene

Usually having one decent profile (ratio) helps you to get into other trackers

[-] slushiedrinker@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 year ago

I have become a streaming junkie since I got a chromecast. I even stream pirated shit I already pirated and saved to a drive. Actually streaming pirated shit I already downloaded and saved to a drive years ago. I just hope certain apps remain available for this magic forever. I think it's key to own a dumb TV (not a smart TV). I don't need no 4K. Got me a Ch-cast HD. Got me some wi-fi. Got me some Stremio.

[-] Sharpiemarker@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago

So I set up i2pd on my Android phone, but I'm not sure how to torrent over i2pd. Mostly I use a VPN on my phone with libretorrent. I used to seedbox most everything.

[-] Strict3443@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

You can try using BiglyBT on android following these instructions: https://github.com/BiglySoftware/BiglyBT/wiki/I2P#user-content-biglybt-i2p-and-android

Otherwise, I'd suggest using a desktop to run i2psnark, BiglyBT, or qBittorrent and use i2pd along with those clients.

[-] Sharpiemarker@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a shot.

[-] AceFuzzLord@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

I didn't know whether downloading music from yt using NewPipe would be considered DDL, so I just put "Other" for that. I put streaming only because that's how I've been trying to keep up on Pokemon Horizons.
