Hit level 70 on my hardcore diablo 2 LoD ladder character. I'm way over leveled for starting hell but it's been so long since I've been this far in hardcore I don't want to die now
LETS GO HARDCORE 1 BABY thats what im talking about. REAL DANGER.
I've farmed every area of this world on softcore a gorillion times but playing with intention on hardcore really helps me appreciate the world more
I'm still on my Assassin's Creed Odyssey bullshit. I have discovered the answer to the question, "what happens if you go to the underworld before you've completed the main quest line? Are the NPCs who are purportedly still alive back in Greece also there in the afterlife?" And the answer is, yes, of course they are. Has Ubisoft ever been hampered by such trivial concerns as narrative consistency?
Long-Winded Nerd Shit
So, to recap from last week, my goal is to hit level 99 ASAP to switch my character build out to an absolutely game-breaking setup that involves exploiting an integer underflow calculation error in how the game engine handles damage numbers. The short version is that if you can consistently keep your Warrior damage bonus at or below -100%, you deal 2.1 billion damage per hit. If you use the Bighorn Bow (Helix store item; you can get it for "free" during your first playthrough because the game gives you more than enough Helix store scrip the first time you complete the prologue chapter), it uses your Warrior damage stat instead of Hunter damage for ranged attacks and Hunter abilities, so those also deal 2.1 billion damage. Finally, if you use the Knife of Dallwun (very beginning of the Korfu island free DLC quests) as your secondary weapon, you automatically one-shot anything at or below your level with Assassination-type attacks. (I'm not sure what Hero Strike actually looks like here, but it's something like 10x the hit points of the primary target.) This last bit is why level 99 is important for this to work.
So my initial guesstimate was that I could get all the way through the first episode of the Atlantis DLC and then hit 99 somewhere during the second episode. I miscalculated, but I was damn close. I'm about a quarter of the way into 98 right now and the episode 2 end boss fight is all that I have left for that bit. My real purpose in all of this is to just be an utterly disrespectful prick to Hades and one-shot him with a light melee attack. No charged heavy attack, no Fury of the Bloodline, no adrenaline usage, no Devastating Shot from three feet away... Just a 2.1 billion damage light attack because FUCK YOU HADES, YOU COCKY SCHEMING PRICK. I am exacting my revenge upon this fucking slop game once and for all, and the god of death himself is going to be my first victim. There's about to be a new sheriff in town, and her name is MAX_INT.
So yeah, now I have the unmitigated joy of having to leave the underworld for an hour or two of gameplay time to rack up enough XP to finish out the level grind (while toggling a 25% boost on and off every time I turn in quests; I'm pretty sure it came with the season pass edition of the game, and I was surprised to see that it refreshes on a New Game+), which more than likely means starting the first DLC, in which Ubisoft asked the question "what if cult, but different?" with a dash of heteronormative bioessentialism thrown in for good measure because MUH BLOODLINE.
This fucking game, I swear to god.
Now this right here? This is some motherfucking podracing.

Normal bow shot damage (without charging) is only around 1.6 billion. That's still about a billion more HP than any of these poor bastards had.

Sadly, the "light attack love tap" doesn't quite work.
Victoria 3, I swear they put cocaine in the code or something why does this game suck me in so much
I’m using a mod to extend the timeline, it’s now 1945, the Greater American Socialist Union leads a bloc of socialist countries worldwide including most of Europe and the Soviet Union. The GASU is a shining example to the world, with the highest quality of life on the planet, universal high quality healthcare, excellent worker protections, universal college, and is currently passing queer rights. It consists of all of North and Central America, Colombia, and almost the entirety of Africa, with its capital in Pennsylvania.
Spain, despite being the first European country to have a socialist revolution, converted back to a parliamentary republic around the turn of the century, although they kept cooperative ownership of both factories and agriculture so not that big of a deal I guess. The French Commune has decided they want to go it alone and hates the rest of the communist world.
The Netherlands and Scandinavia are the remaining capitalist European powers, with India, recently-broken-and-then-recombined China, and Brazil also still clinging to capitalism. The key to making Europe a productive member of global society turned out to do not allow Germany to unify. Prussia and Austria have mostly been prevented from absorbing their smaller neighbors, and most of Germany remains a collection of small independent principalities, most of which are also socialist.
Most of Australia is the Uluru anarchist commune, with the former settlers restricted to New South Wales - This portion is also now a socialist republic. Similarly, the Māori control the north island of Aotearoa, another anarchist commune, and settler New Zealand is a socialist republic on the South Island. Cuba is a socialist republic on both tips of the island, with the anarchist Antillean Confederation taking up the center - I’m not sure why this happened.
I've just come back to Hades II now that it's full release is done. Trying to grind the full end and testaments of the night, but I'm really struggling with a couple of the upgraded bosses.
Yeah, some of the Rivals bosses are a real nightmare. One thing that worked for me was the Jewelled Pom keepsake, which can be pretty busted imo.
I did another playthrough of Sonic CD on the PC Port with the Sonic CD Restored mod. It was fun but I realized after that I think I should have gone with Miracle Edition because that has basically everything I want from Restored and more, plus with better customization.
I've also been playing a little bit of Vampire Crawlers which seems fine. The dungeon crawling part of the game feels really bare-bones so far and I think it's annoying that you can't rebind the controller controls for some reason, only select from 3 presets. The card game part is fun though, I like the combo mechanic.
I played some of @BeanisBrain@hexbear.net's Guardian Cry today too! I just finished the second temple and it's pretty good so far. The combat feels nice, I like the upgrades that I've seen, and there's some fun twists on classic puzzle styles. I'm also enjoying the story so far. AND the source code is available too
It's free so if you are here and haven't given it a try yet, do it!
(Pssst @BeanisBrain@hexbear.net I found some minor bugs)

These two messages got mashed together, the order I did things was first helping the guy find the emblem in the meadow, then I completed the temple, and then I talked to this person in the tavern. Not sure any of that matters but I figure it might help.

Also when I close the game I get an error in my terminal:

Not sure it matters since everything seems fine? But I thought it might be worth bringing up. Playing the Linux version on Arch.
One more thing, not really a bug I don't think but I noticed that if you use the stomp move to break several rocks at once, the stacked sound effects get really loud. Not sure if this is intentional but yeah breaking 4 or 5 rocks at once jump scared me pretty good lol.
Thank you for the game, again I'm having a good time! I hope pinging you with some issues isn't discouraging or anything.
Thanks for catching those! I'll work on a hotfix.
Hey sorry I was just playing again and realized I had gotten mixed up and my comment about the mashed together dialogue wasn't accurate. The temple I had beaten was Gryphon's, not Phoenix's, I hadn't done Phoenix yet at that point. Figured I better clear that up
Thanks!
hitting Vampire Crawlers pretty hard
Pugnala absolutely goated.
spoiler
Having recently unlocked more starting crawler slots, a Pugnala/Cavallo/Antonio or literally anyone else combo is fucking wild
Its fun. I think the devs did it again where they created a really fun gameplay loop.
I initially didn't think it was as good, but once i started working with wild cards more, it really fucking clicked
Yeah It starts simple but the more you unlock the wilder it gets.
ive been playing the new tomodachi life a lot, i really like drawing everything
EDIT. Ok guess im going to paint one last round before bed.
Grim dawn hardcore :) having a good time
Oh hell ya, girl, hardcore is the only core
I never did it before, but I've noticed it makes me way more invested in my character and the world. New and fun, I'm trying the tankiest possible character to offset the challenge

Any warframe players wanna add me? I am not sure how to get platinum without buying it and would prefer not to, but it looks like outside of mods, my sword is maxed out and I want a new one.
My username is EricZan#777 apparently? Thats also not my real name so no worries there. Feel free to add me!
I have not played in years but usually you farm some stuff like some frame parts and sell them for platinum on the market. You can also wait for a sale to buy it. I don't remember if the maximum sale is 75% or 90%, but smaller discounts appear while playing and the big discounts always appear when logging in after not playing for a while.
The main way to get plat without buying it is to trade certain items to other players in exchange for platinum. This is primarily done through the 3rd party site warframe.market as it allows for a very smooth experience compared to going into trade chat and getting scammed. Making an account is a little annoying IIRC but it's been 10 years so I don't recall the details. Items you can sell are:
- prime parts (from opening relics in Void Fissure missions, typically ranges from 2-10p with rarer parts worth more)
- rare mods (all kinds of sources but typically if people are going to pay for them it's because they're annoying to get and/or have a super low drop rate; one of the easiest type to get are the Corrupted mods from Deimos dragon key vaults which go for around 8p)
- arcanes (not really available to a new player)
- riven mods (ditto)
- some weapon parts from some modes (mostly Railjack/Duviri IIRC; Duviri is technically accessible to a new player but imo the Cinta is a miserable grind, while Railjack is extremely new player unfriendly)
I think you might also have to be in a clan to trade but not sure. People will definitely expect you to be in a clan, so that you can invite them to your dojo to actually perform the trade. If you want, I can add you to my (pretty much) solo clan; I've unlocked just about everything barring some cosmetics and railjack parts.
Also imo you're kind of expected to sell off old weapons to free up slots for new ones, with exceptions for ones you really like or are hard to get. There are just shy of 600, and at 6p a slot that'd be a fuckload of plat.
Separate point re: your sword being "maxed out". Mods are the main way you increase the power of weapons, and obviously you'll get more performance from having the mods maxed. That said, for some mods that have lots of levels (especially the main damage ones like Serration, Hornet Strike, and Pressure Point) the last few levels will be prohibitively expensive. However, once you max out your mods, you'll then be limited by mod capacity. This is increased in two ways. First, you can use an Orokin Catalyst (for warframes and companions, you use a similar item called an Orokin Reactor) to double the mod capacity of a weapon from 30-60. Second, once a weapon has hit level 30, you can consume an item called Forma to polarize a mod slot (or change polarity of an existing polarized slot). Polarized mod slots reduce the capacity a mod drains by half if the polarity of the slot and of the mod match. As a trade-off, they will also increase drain if polarity doesn't match, so you want to be sure before you do forma something. Catalysts/Reactors are a one-time thing per weapon/frame, and are generally very rare. The main way to get them is through the Nightwave shop, with the occasional Gift of the Lotus alert after a stream or (very rarely) from invasions. Forma are a reward you can get as a blueprint instead of a prime part from cracking a relic, and then take a full 23 hours to craft.
Having said all that, the starting equipment is generally pretty bad (I'm assuming you have either the Skana or the even worse Mk-1 Skana), and not worth that high of an investment of rare resources anyway.
Cool, thanks for all that! Feel free to add me if you want. And yep, I've got the Skana with a few mods that are as high as I can get them rn.
I found a very decent CRT TV on the street last weekend and I've been slowly preparing a retro game setup with it. Got a solid wood stand for it, cleaned it up and got it upstairs at my apartment. Very excited to play some PS2. Unfortunately, it might have bugs in it. :(
Haven't had much time for gaming this weekend, since we're finally in a stable enough financial situation to be able to afford replacing some of our barely-functional household items with stuff that was manufactured, you know... post-9/11. We spent nearly every waking moment gutting the family / dining / gaming room (small place) in preparation for tomorrow's sofa and loveseat delivery. They have metal in them! It's not just some cheap wood and foam squares wrapped in fabric!
Outside of that I've been playing some Pokopia. The game's central story conceit is surprisingly sad:
Spoilers for Pokémon Pokopia's plot, which is more just a framing device to make the game make sense.
Humans destroyed the world through climate change, and escaped into space. Your trainers abandoned you in Bill's PC, which finally failed and released you all into the wild. You are blissfully unaware that hundreds of years have passed, so you start rebuilding the ruined Kanto region in hopes that it will entice your (certainly long-dead) trainers to come home.

Playing Marathon and discovering what world leaders do in their spare time

How is it? I've been thinking about trying it but I haven't played any extraction shooter yet so IDK if it expects more money after the initial purchase and don't know how doable casual solo play would be. Also not totally sure on how well it'd run on an FX-9590 CPU.
It's my first extraction shooter also. Took me a bit to actually get it but once I did I was hooked. Been playing almost entirely with randoms, and the average person has been surprisingly nice. Still a few assholes but most of my games are either with friendly people or people who don't talk much.
Solo play is a totally different beast, I don't really enjoy it because I'm not very good lol. Don't have the sense of where I'm going to run into people or get shot from.
If you don't mind waiting a bit, the first reset will be in about a month, and they might do a free weekend or a sale.
Wii Fit U and biking on my ebike. Went for a 35KM ride today and then did 15 minutes of Wii Fit U. Gotta' get back to LOZ:TOTK at some point but I've been too busy doomin' and cleaning and watching X the anime and stuff.
I'm still playing Stellaris. This game is unfiltered crack directly into my veins it seems. I have finished my previous first time run in third place if iirc. That's when I found out that the game is very open-ended and only really stops when you want it to stop. So for my second run I'm playing a communist empire of ex-slave jellyfish people. I want to share the details of my current run cause I think you'll like it comrades, it's a pretty big wall of text tho, sorry for that lol.
Details about the empire
General details:
The empire is called União Popular Comunal de Caríbea, in english Comunal Popular Union of Caríbea or CPUC for short. A Fanatic Igualitarian / Materialist empire with the Shared Burdens and Meritocracy Civics (right now we also have the Beacon of Liberty Civic too) and the Broken Shackles origin.
Our main species is called Medusoana. And the first leader, the Orador(a) Maior, in english Higher Speaker, is a woman called Maharia.
Our new world is called Tarcadal Desacorrentada, in english Tarcadal Unshackled, an ocean world, now home to multiple species of ex-slaves all united around our shared goal of liberating the galaxy of capitalism and its slavery tendencies.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Backstory:

Daughter of a great revolutionary who participated in the Revolution of the Caríbea atoll, the greatest wonder of her homeworld. Maharia taught her enslaved comrades the imortal science of the proletariat coined by Kahorul Mahexs and took lead in the mutiny against the slavers.
The name of the empire is a reference and tribute to her father and the countless who fought for their freedom before, but ultimately failed. Their sacrifice now fuels the heart of countless others in hope for a better tomorrow.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Story and general run objective:
“Freeing ourselves from the shackles of the imperialist oppressors, we are the ex-slaves that form the party and galactic empire Comunal Popular Union of Caríbea, it is our duty to free the people oppressed by the decadent capitalism that somehow survived like a parasite until the cosmic stage of the people of our galaxy. The bourgeois-democratic empires, while enemies of the freedom of the people, are not our priority as long as they show us the same respect we will show them. And if possible, we will free and peacefully integrate them under our side. It is the authoritarians, imperialists and specially the slavers who we must not tolerate under any circumstance, it is them the enemy of the most diverse populace of our galaxy and the unscrupulous maintainers of the the most vile and decadent capitalism of this universe.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What happened so far:
A shit ton of things happened in this run so far, so I'll detail some of the most interesting stuff I remember.
We quickly found out who enslaved us, it was a Megacorporation quite close to us, they called themselves a "Benevolent" empire, but we knew the truth and that couldn't stand. When we were big and strong enough we went to war with them and won. Before that, another group of Medusoannas under their empire revolted. At the time we couldn't help them directly so they didn't join our empire, but were crucial in defeating the Megacorp. Unfortunately they didn't learn from their past mistakes and they too enslaved people that later revolted against them, right now they still exist as an empire because they are vassals of a bigger hive-mind empire we have not managed to liberate yet, despite their multiple aggressions against us. We even had to become vassals of this hive-mind once, but used that as an opportunity to tech rush and expand enough to liberate ourselves. Also, when that happened I was neglecting the economy pretty hard and making a bunch of mistakes, so I also used it as an opportunity to correct that.
Despite that, we also faced multiple wars. At a time I felt like the Soviet Union because there were 5 empires at war with us at the same time lmao.
We also found a black hole early in the game that has some kind of worm entity inside it and it started a bunch of time traveling shenanigans that were pretty cool. Unfortunately we have not been able go back there yet. Outside of that I learned the hard way not to make defensive pacts, the AI will just shit itself and thing we can take on a larger threat, the cool part is that I turned it into a roleplay reason to change the empire's international policy, take a look:
“Twice have the CPUC tried to cooperate with our allies through unconditional support for mutual help, twice we were deceived into joining senseless wars with impossible enemies, first with an ally we wanted to pacifically integrate, now with comrades that used us as a cannon against the current galactic threat.
Materiality prevails and imposes itself indicating we should change our international policy. Smaller comrades are safer with us, pacific integration is the solution. Against the capitalists, liberation wars are our new policy, the workers of the galaxy must be freed from capitalism.”
Since this is already a massive wall of text, I'll rapid fire a few stuff: We have found multiple dimensions with alternate versions of ourselves. We have retrieved the Head of Zarqlan which has been essential for our military, to the point just the Fallen Empires are stronger than us, one is actually 3 fragmented empires, one is a robotic one that have done basically nothing so far, and the third one is the ones that sends me troops when I activate the Head of Zarqlan. And this last one I'm actually at war right now because of the small empire that used us to fight them that I mentioned above lol. Outside that, right now we are part of the galactic senate and are trying to vote for slavery to be banned. Also the Medusoannas just started evolving psychic abilities.
This is what the galaxy looks like right now. (Actually not exactly, since this print I have expanded more on the south of the galaxy.
And this is what the empire's government looks like right now. There are 4 Paragons there, with 2 being immortal, one of these being the Oracle.
Sounds very cool. One of my favourite aspects of Stellaris is that it is really a sandbox game. If you enjoy roleplaying a specific faction or empire you can make it happen. The game has a ton of different origins some of which change the opening of the game quite drastically. Also, the RNG nature of the game can give each run a different feel. Ascension perks are really cool my favourite playstyle is psionic. (Even if it isnt the strongest atm but I dont play Stellaris to win)
Yeah it's pretty cool. I usually struggle with sandbox games because I tend to prefer having clear goals set by the game, but it looks like this is one I can really enjoy because of the roleplaying aspect of it actually lets me roleplay in a way I enjoy.
my favourite playstyle is psionic
Oh I'm trying psionic right now, tho I started it pretty late, so I'm not sure I'll actually get to experience it that well on this run. But I already have other runs planed so I can totally try it again too.
So far, in no particular order, the other runs I have thought of are:
- Market Socialism (Cooperative)
- Posadist

- Cybernetic communism

- Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Communism

Played some more Cathay in Total Warhammer 3, I have reached the silly part of the game where I have like 20 armies and every turn is 10+ minutes of upgrading every settlement with my 60k income. Still not a fan of Cathay's roster. Fought Kholek and 7 crane gunners didn't even manage to kill him before the battle ended.
Also some misc warframe grinding occasionally to get the last 3 helminths I need.
I've carried on trying to survive in Project Zomboid. I still haven't made it past 2 days yet. One memorable moment was entering a school with 1 character, opening a door into zombies and dying immediately. Then spawning in with a new character pretty close to the school, exploring the school and attracting a massive horde inside before having to run away. Still, pretty fun.
I finally burned myself out on Factorio, but I at least got infinite science set up, mostly. I haven't hopped onto Space Age yet because (a) I still have a whole back catalog to get through, and (b) I just don't need that kind of addiction in my life right now.
I'm kinda in the mood to go play something goofy like Just Cause 3 or something, or maybe go back to my neglected BG3 game...
Started out Esoteric Ebb. Absolutely love the world, lore and consequences and will probably play through several times. Only downside is that there's no voices recorded, but a massively lorefilled world, so tons of text to work through. But worth it.
Games
Tabletop, DnD, board games, and minecraft. Also Animal Crossing.
