US and Israeli officials are mulling an international peacekeeping force for the Gaza Strip should Israel successfully remove Hamas from power, Bloomberg reported, suggesting American troops could take part in the deployment.

The two countries have been “exploring options” for Gaza’s future as Israel escalates its ground assault on the Palestinian enclave, including several different peacekeeping arrangements, officials familiar with the discussions told the outlet on Tuesday.

“One option would grant temporary oversight to Gaza to countries from the region, backed by troops from the US, UK, Germany and France. Ideally, it would also include representation from Arab nations such as Saudi Arabia or the United Arab Emirates,” Bloomberg reported.

While the officials stressed that the conversations are still in an early stage, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken hinted at the issue in recent comments to lawmakers, suggesting Washington is deeply involved in the planning.

As sad and tragic as it is, it really is funny just how hard we're twisting the definition of words here. If the US moves in, we're not invading Gaza, we're "intervening as peacekeepers"

So they're not even pretending that the UN is a thing at this point.

I'm sure this will turn out just fine.

Deploying the 112th, 47th, and 69th Genocide Regiments and pretending you're not literally the Imperium

US, Israel weighing moving US/NATO Troops Into Gaza as "Peacekeepers"

Looks like the US may be trying to find a compromise that doesn't make them and the occupying zionist force look as bad as the full annihilation of the Palestinian people. Instead perhaps now they intend to impose a dictatorship, completely neutered, loyal to the west and the occupying zionist regime and perhaps run it as a police state so the more calm, orderly, less international outrage inducing slow genocide and land theft can continue.

Also it's laughable that they claim the US isn't involved. I read another story that said hundreds of US special forces were there with the IOF planning and conducting raids. It really looks like they may actually avoid a full-scale invasion because the IOF can't be trusted and instead are trying to target and assassinate and pick off leadership and rank and file of Hamas. I can only imagine how many satellites are pointed at Gaza right now as well as how many drones are buzzing about gathering radio, visual, thermal, etc data.

This is likely due to the fact the US wants to avoid the Arab world charging in and the conflict broadening. But I assume if it were the US would be obligated to place boots on the ground and the US would be in the war too.

The info blackout on operations in Gaza is also an attempt of course to make it harder for Hezbollah & Iran to feel obligated to join in to fulfill statements about a response to the invasion.

Something about the word "inspect" in that caption infuriates me. As if they are professionals "inspecting" the remains of some accident rather than innocent fucking refugees who just got bombed by a bunch of fascists.

I think the word that got me in thumbnail was "enclave." Subtly paints a picture of barbarian hordes occupying recently stolen lands and using aggressively as a FOB. When it is a city full of children. Can't make this shit up.

Yes, the problem is that they aren't occupied by enough countries, and need more countries to occupy them all at the same time, that will fix everything! Though given the current fairly vocal public outcry, I can only imagine it would get even worse if soldiers from their own countries are the ones doing the genocide.

That's not how criticism works

Mayos only criticize Israel because most mayos are not Jewish, once their own countries are occupying Palestine they'll suddenly be less bothered by it. IE: nobody talks much about the 5,000 Israels that Europe committed over the last couple centuries

Maybe a “mandate” for the UK? It worked last time.

US be like: "ooh I wanna do genocide there too! Let's get the kkklan together again!"

Okay the US just wants to blow up the whole fucking world don't they

god I hope the Hamas get a hypersonic anti-ship missile, i want as many imperialists dead as possible

Unless all the peacekeepers are Palestinian, fuck that. And fuck the useless UN. For all the conspiracy theories reactionaries have about the UN, it's a tool of imperialism.
