I'm in my late 30's but visibly pass for late 20's.

Skincare, not-smoking, standing desk & walking everywhere, and avoiding UV by being a fucking perpetual indoor nerd. (My diet isn't too horrible either but its not great)

I don't relate to anyone, 20 year olds, 30 year olds, 40+ year olds. They might as well all be aliens. So it doesn't matter that much.

I miss my pandemic D&D^1^ group. It was an 18 year old that just finished high school, two people in their mid 20s in grad school, me in my mid 30s, and one person in their mid 40s. Every once in a while we'd get some interesting generation-gap moments.

^1^ I don't even like D&D specifically, but that group really made it work.

I'm almost 29 and we got a new guy at work who is 23 a few months ago and the age difference is just barely large enough for us to not understand pop culture references from childhood.

inter-generational friends have that dgaf energy you just don't get from thems basic homogeneous groups.

I feel like it works with either being the 30yo here.

My dude, I'm in my 40s. Someone in my band is in her late 20s. Someone else is in her late 60s. There's like 11 of us and we're like family. Adults under 25 need to be handled with kid gloves, but like friendships that cross traditional social boundaries are the best. If your friends see the world the exact same way you do, you don't have anything interesting to talk about because you already know each others' thoughts.

Cause 30 is old? Oof...
