The idea that soccer fans might bonk the other team's fans with metal bottles isn't crazy, but you don't want a bunch of people dying of heat exhaustion and dehydration either.

The teams will still all go. It's all corrupt.

This is normal in most professional sports in the US. It sucks. Yeah sure blame people chucking reusable bottles, which are typically very uniquely identifiable, but it is just capitalism. They will ban anything and everything if they can charge you extra for it.
