30,000 ballots were put on hold. For what, them to still be counted and the offices not even fazed cause they have kickass protocols? Idiots

[-] SeaJ@lemm.ee 6 points 10 months ago

It's not like this was a particularly important election here in King County either.

[-] merthyr1831@lemmy.world 52 points 10 months ago

you know it's some cop lover considering they think fentanyl powder kills people on contact

[-] SeaJ@lemm.ee 13 points 10 months ago

That was my first thought: some dumbass bought into the idea that fentanyl can be fatal if touched.

[-] lolcatnip@reddthat.com 7 points 10 months ago

I checked, and while you can't absorb it through your skin, it does look like it's possible to accidentally inhale a lethal dose.

[-] merthyr1831@lemmy.world 12 points 10 months ago

You could, but you'd have to have a lot of it blown airborne. you'd have to have it blown in your face to realistically inhale any of it.

Anthrax and other effective mail-delivered substances were dangerous since they were much more airborne or were hard to properly ensure is cleaned off your person. Fentanyl won't be ingested if it gets on your clothes or a trace remains on your hands, but invisible, long-lasting bacterium spores? Lethal.

It has to be aerosolized to do that, which isn't going to just randomly happen from opening an envelope. You'd have to do something deliberately really stupid like spray it into a theater full of innocent hostages.

Wait...

God. Now I’m just imagining ready glitter bombs being delivered.

I don’t want to live on this planet anymore.

[-] CADmonkey@lemmy.world 0 points 10 months ago

Either a cop lover or just a cop. They probably wouldn't have trouble getting their hands on fentanyl.

[-] stella@lemm.ee 46 points 10 months ago

Wait till they find a white conservative did it.

Then it's no longer terrorism.

[-] ours@lemmy.world 24 points 10 months ago

"Honest mistake your honor, my client was told to send messages promoting white power".

[-] SeaJ@lemm.ee 14 points 10 months ago

Just some Lone Wolf with mental health issues who hangs out with other lone wolves with mental health issues.

[-] chuckleslord@lemmy.world 10 points 10 months ago

It was Fentanyl. That's a bootlicker for sure

[-] gkd@lemmy.ml 32 points 10 months ago

Don’t understand what these people think would be accomplished by sending the stuff in the mail like that. Touching it isn’t going to do anything. Inhaling I supposed, but it would be rather difficult to accidentally inhale it especially after being packed during mailing.

What they're trying to accomplish is to make people afraid to get involved in administering elections unless they're "on the right side."

This particular effort might or might not have any effect at all. But the point is, it's in concert with a thousand other things. And, more importantly, they're getting practice, and learning about what works and what doesn't and what they can get away with, and who they can trust as their allies when things get real.

[-] subignition@kbin.social 13 points 10 months ago

Here's hoping the person(s) responsible for these crimes are swiftly brought to justice.

[-] Maeve@kbin.social 9 points 10 months ago

on the right side.

Will this be an ironic double standard or ironic double entendre? Dun-da-da-dun!

[-] gkd@lemmy.ml 6 points 10 months ago

Oh for sure. I’m just glad they keep doing this harmless shit. But, the scary thing is that the more they escalate and see it doesn’t work, the more they will keep escalating.

High praise to all the people working the elections these days ❤️

[-] Bizarroland@kbin.social 7 points 10 months ago

The one good thing is that the government does not take that lying down.

Part of the reason why the Jan 6th insurrectionists have been subjected to such a dog and pony show is because they're attempting to use the media to dissuade further domestic terrorists from engaging in domestic terrorism.

I feel like tracking down the people that send strange white powders to government offices and subjecting them to the same punishment and ridicule should also help prevent or at least minimize future occurrences as well

[-] mo_ztt@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Yeah, 1,000%. I reached out about volunteering but I never followed through on it. I should call again and try to volunteer for the next one.

[-] jennwiththesea@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

They actually don't use volunteers here. They pay people to do the work. I asked Julie Wise about this at a town hall once. You can go observe, though.

Watching too many cop shows maybe (stuff like blue bloods). They usually treat fentanyl as something you will die from if you touch it for even one second.

[-] eran_morad@lemmy.world 9 points 10 months ago

Repubs are dumber than dogshit.

[-] TransplantedSconie@lemm.ee 16 points 10 months ago

Oh, LAWD, I can't wait to see the inevitable outcome when they raid the trailer of the shit-stain who did this, and it's a White Nationalist.

I hope he pulls a gun so they shoot him 50 times.

[-] Tangent5280@lemmy.world 41 points 10 months ago

I hope he doesn't pull a gun, gets arrested, and police gets a chance to investigate this dude's associates and round up the whole chat group. Maybe he'll be sentenced to a restorative prison system where he gets deradicalised, realizes the error of his ways, supplies info to help stop shit like this in the future, and becomes a spokesperson for deescalation training and restorative justice reform.

[-] vrojak@kbin.social 23 points 10 months ago

A measured, sane take, on MY internet?!??

[-] lolcatnip@reddthat.com 1 points 10 months ago

That's the kind of thing I want for common criminals. When it comes to terrorists, I just want them locked up forever, and if I trusted the government to always catch the right person, I'd want a much worse fate for them.

[-] masquenox@lemmy.world 0 points 10 months ago

deradicalised,

You can't "deradicalize" a right-winger - right-wing ideology is anti-radical.

[-] masquenox@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

I hope he pulls a gun so they shoot him 50 times.

Why would he pull a gun on his fellow neonazis and Klan members?

[-] eran_morad@lemmy.world 13 points 10 months ago

Republicunts. Worthless traitor filth.

[-] SARGEx117@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

Damn, I've seen this rerun before about 20 years ago..

[-] masquenox@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

Oooh, fentanyl... that thing that makes pigs (but nobody else) mysteriously fall over whenever they happen to be in the same time zone as a milligram of it?

[-] butter@midwest.social 1 points 10 months ago

I assume something is happening in Washington? Probably another abortion vote?
